Mayers is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Rangers in Arlington.

Even though he was blasted for five earned runs in 3.1 innings in his last appearance out of the bullpen Sept. 11 in Houston, Mayers will get the chance to fill the final opening in the Angels' six-man rotation. He'll be replacing Tucker Davidson, who hasn't appeared since allowing four earned runs in two innings in his start in that same Sept. 11 game. The Angels could end up deploying Davidson as a piggyback pitcher behind Mayers on Tuesday.

Fairbanks struck out two in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save during Sunday's win over the Rangers.

While the Rays have used a committee-based approach in the ninth inning for most of the season, Fairbanks has established himself as the favorite for save chances over the last two weeks. The right-hander has converted saves in each of his last four outings and has tossed 19 scoreless innings over 19 appearances since July 25. The team has several other late-relief options that could pick up the occasional save down the stretch, but Fairbanks should continue to see the bulk of the closing duties as long as he remains dominant.

Pivetta (10-11) yielded three runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings Sunday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Royals.

Pivetta gave up a run in each of the first two innings and eventually served up a solo shot to Salvador Perez in the fifth frame. The 29-year-old righty was 0-2 with a 4.50 over his previous five outings since his last victory Aug. 16. He's now sporting a 4.35 ERA with a 160:63 K:BB across 30 starts this season. Pivetta is lined up for a road matchup with the Yankees next week.

Otto (6-9) allowed four runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out three in 3.1 innings to take the loss Sunday against the Rays.

Otto tossed a scoreless first frame during Sunday's matchup, but he gave up four runs over the next two innings and was forced to settle for his ninth loss of the season. Sunday's start was just the second time this year that Otto hasn't lasted at least four innings, and he's posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 18.1 innings over four appearances in September. He projects to make his next start at home against the Guardians on Saturday.

Krehbiel (5-4) pitched a perfect inning and struck out one to earn the win Sunday over the Blue Jays.

Krehbiel worked the eighth inning and ended up in line for the win when the Orioles rallied ahead in the ninth. Through six outings spanning 6.1 innings in September, Krehbiel has given up two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven. The 29-year-old righty has maintained a 3.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 43:15 K:BB while adding a save and 10 holds through 54 innings this year. He remains in a mid-leverage role, though he's unlikely to be in the mix for ancillary save chances when regular closer Felix Bautista is unavailable.

Bautista recorded the save Sunday in Toronto, allowing a run on a hit and two walks while striking out one in the ninth inning of a 5-4 win.

Bautista retired the first two batters before issuing a walk and allowing a run-scoring double to make it a 5-4 game. After another walk, he got Bo Bichette to ground out to end the game. It was his 14th save in 15 tries and his fourth save in September. He's been a little shaky in his last four outings, allowing a couple of runs and walking four batters in five innings of work.

Romano (5-4) blew the save and took the defeat in Sunday's 5-4 loss against Baltimore. He allowed three runs on four hits and two walks.

Romano entered the game with the Blue Jays leading 3-2 and allowed the first four batters to reach safely to blow the save and put Baltimore ahead 4-3. After a double play and an intentional walk, Jesus Aguilar singled in the final run for the Orioles. It was Romano's fifth blown save and first since Aug. 7. The poor outing ended a streak of 14 straight outings covering 15 innings with no runs allowed.

Duran earned the save Sunday in Cleveland, striking out two and walking one in the ninth inning of a 3-0 victory.

Facing the heart of the Guardians' lineup, Duran navigated a walk and kept Cleveland off the board to earn the save. It was his second save in the last four days, and he's now 8-for-8 in save chances on the season. The rookie has a 0.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 36:8 K:BB in 23.2 innings since the All-Star break. With Jorge Lopez's recent struggles, Duran may get more save chances over the final couple of weeks.

Morris (0-2) took the loss Sunday against Minnesota, allowing a run on six hits and a walk while striking out six in six innings.

Morris had the best and longest outing of his big-league career Sunday, allowing just a solo homer and retiring 11 in a row at one point. The 25-year-old had not tossed more than four innings in any of his three previous starts. Control issues had been a cause for concern in his first three appearances, as he walked eight batters in 9.2 innings, but he walked only one batter and threw 63 of his 81 pitches for strikes against Minnesota. His next start will likely be next weekend in Texas.

The Twins optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

Fresh off his call-up from Triple-A on Saturday, Rodriguez proceeded to appear in long relief in the Twins' 7-6 loss in the second game of a doubleheader. He was the pitcher of record in the 15-inning loss, covering the final 3.2 frames and allowing two unearned runs. Since Rodriguez tossed 40 pitches in the outing and wasn't likely to be available out of the bullpen for a few more days, the Twins unsurprisingly elected to swap him off the active roster for a fresh arm in right-hander Ronny Henriquez, who was summoned from Triple-A.
