Montero picked up the save with a scoreless ninth inning against the Rays on Sunday. He allowed one hit and two walks while striking out one.

After getting the first batter to fly out to start the ninth inning, Montero allowed three of the next four batters to reach base and enable the go-ahead run to step up to the plate with two outs. All ended well, however, as he got Taylor Walls to ground out to second base to end the game and record his 14th save of the season. Over his last 10 appearances dating back to Sept. 9, Montero has allowed two earned runs over 10 innings with two saves and four holds.

Peralta (back) won't travel with the Yankees on Monday for the final series of the regular season at Texas, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The 31-year-old will continue his rehab at Somerset and could throw a live bullpen session this week. Peralta has been a key bullpen piece with a 2.72 ERA in 56 appearances for New York this year, and it appears he could be available for the start of the ALDS, which begins Oct. 11.

Castillo (0-2) took the loss Sunday in Cleveland, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five in five innings.

Six of the seven runs against Castillo came in the second inning as the Guardians sent nine batters to the plate and Will Brennan and Josh Naylor each launched three-run homers. Castillo figured it out after that and retired the final 10 batters he faced, but at that point the damage had already been done. The 23-year-old was acquired from the Blue Jays before the trade deadline and has struggled mightily for the Royals, compiling a 9.16 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 17:10 K:BB in 18.2 innings across five appearances.

Romano earned the save Sunday against Boston, striking out one in the ninth inning of a 6-3 victory.

One hitter reached on a throwing error by Vladimir Guerrero, but Romano otherwise handled the Red Sox, inducing weak contact and striking out a batter. It was his 36th save in 42 opportunities and first since Sept. 24. The 29-year-old has not allowed a run in his last five outings spanning 5.1 innings, striking out five hitters, hitting one batter and giving up two hits during that stretch.

Sandlin has not allowed more than one run in an appearance since the All-Star break.

Sandlin has had a little misfortune, taking three blown saves while adding a win and two holds in those 21 outings. Nonetheless, it's been a strong stretch of pitching -- he's logged a 0.93 ERA and 0.78 WHIP over 19.1 innings in the second half. The bullpen has been a strength for the Guardians in 2022, with closer Emmanuel Clase leading baseball with 40 saves and James Karinchak and Trevor Stephan serving as the top setup men, leaving Sandlin in a middle-relief role.

Oller (2-8) took the loss while serving as the opener versus the Mariners on Saturday, allowing three earned runs on three hits, two walks and a wild pitch over one inning. He struck out two.

Oller had just come off the injured list Friday, and his first game action since Sept. 3 certainly didn't serve as a soft landing. The right-hander slogged through a 36-pitch opening frame during which he allowed RBI singles to Carlos Santana and Sam Haggerty that drove home three total runs. Oller's rocky outing was a shorter version of his last start before going on the IL, when he'd yielded six runs on eight hits, including four home runs, to the Orioles. It remains to be seen if Oller will get a chance to make at least one more appearance during the final days of the regular season and head into the offseason with some momentum.

Henriquez was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Henriquez was promoted from St. Paul on Sept. 18 and made three appearances in his first taste of the big leagues, and he pitched well with a 2.31 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 9:3 K:BB across 11.2 innings. Simeon Woods Richardson, who is starting Sunday in Detroit, was called up in a corresponding move.

Bautista still has some soreness in his left knee Sunday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Bautista struck out two in a scoreless inning Friday but reported knee soreness after the game and hasn't pitched since. With the Orioles eliminated from the playoff mix, it would not be surprising to see them let their gigantic power reliever rest his knee for the rest of the regular season.

Woods Richardson had his contract selected from Triple-A St. Paul and will start Sunday against the Tigers, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

The 22-year-old was previously confirmed as the starter for Sunday's contest, and he's now officially been called up for his MLB debut. Woods Richardson split the 2022 campaign between Double-A Wichita and St. Paul, and he posted a 2.73 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 116:37 K:BB over 109.2 innings.

Miller is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Angels.

In his last appearance Tuesday against the Mariners, Miller worked as a bulk reliever and struck out three over 3.2 scoreless innings. Unless the Rangers make a late change of plans and elect to deploy him behind an opener, Miller will now get the chance to make his third career MLB start in what will likely be his final appearance of the 2022 season. Though he was sharp his last time out versus Seattle, Miller had previously surrendered seven runs (six earned) on five hits and four walks over three innings in his other two MLB appearances this season.
