  • Zach Logue RP | LAD

Tigers' Zach Logue: Designated for assignment

Logue was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Saturday.

Logue's stay on Detroit's 40-man roster lasted just over a week -- he was claimed off waivers from Oakland on Dec. 23. The lefty will return to waiver purgatory to begin the new year as he makes way for Tyler Nevin. Logue finished with a 6.79 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 14 appearances (10 starts) for the A's last season.

  • Danny Coulombe RP | BOS

Twins' Danny Coulombe: Back with Minnesota

Coulombe (hip) signed a minor-league contract with the Twins on Friday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

The 33-year-old elected free agency after being outrighted off Minnesota's 40-man roster in October, but he's now back with the organization. Coulombe made only 10 appearances last season before he underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his left hip over the summer. The left-hander was a solid bullpen piece in 2021 with a 3.67 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB across 34.1 innings.

  • Nick Mears RP | KC

Rangers' Nick Mears: DFA'd by Texas

Mears was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Tuesday.

Mears was claimed off waivers by the Rangers last week, but he was only briefly on the team's 40-man roster. The 26-year-old made only two big-league appearances last season and had a 4.74 ERA over 24.2 innings at Triple-A.

  • Nick Mears RP | KC

Rangers' Nick Mears: Claimed by Texas

Mears was claimed off waivers by the Rangers on Friday.

The 26-year-old was designated for assignment by the Pirates last weekend and will now join the Rangers. Mears missed the first four months of 2022 while recovered from elbow surgery, and he had a 4.74 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 27:17 K:BB in 24.2 innings at the Triple-A level.

  • Zach Logue RP | LAD

Tigers' Zach Logue: Claimed off waivers

Logue was claimed off waivers by the Tigers on Friday.

Logue was knocked around in 2022 to the tune of a 6.79 ERA with the Athletics and an 8.12 ERA at Triple-A Las Vegas. The southpaw put up some pretty good numbers in the minors prior to that, though, so the Tigers will hope he can rebound.

  • Mike Mayers RP | TOR

Royals' Mike Mayers: Inks minor-league deal

Mayers signed a minor-league contract with the Royals on Thursday.

Mayers was designated for assignment by the Angels in late September, and he elected free agency after refusing an outright assignment. He'll need to settle for a minor-league deal with Kansas City, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him invited to major-league spring training since he spent most of the 2022 campaign in the big leagues.

  • Oliver Ortega RP | NYM

Angels' Oliver Ortega: DFA'd by Halos

Ortega was designated for assignment by the Angels on Thursday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Ortega had a 1.71 ERA across his first 15 appearances of 2022, but he had a 6.92 ERA in his next 12 outings and finished the campaign in the minors. The 26-year-old has now lost his spot on the 40-man roster, though he'll still likely report to big-league camp for spring training.

  • White Sox's Gregory Santos: Acquired by White Sox

Santos (groin) was acquired by the White Sox from the Giants on Thursday in exchange for Kade McClure, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Santos was designated for assignment earlier this week and has now found a new home. The 23-year-old spent most of 2022 in the minors and had his season end prematurely due to a groin injury.

  • Ryder Ryan RP | LAD

Mariners' Ryder Ryan: Lands with Seattle

Ryan signed a minor-league contract with Seattle on Monday.

Ryan has spent the last two seasons at Triple-A Round Rock, where he posted a 4.49 ERA, 122:48 K:BB and 1.43 WHIP in 104.1 innings. It's possible he serves as a non-roster invitee this spring, but it seems likely that he'll at least spend most of the season in the minors.

  • Lucas Luetge RP | BOS

Yankees' Lucas Luetge: Designated for assignment

Luetge was designated for assignment by the Yankees on Wednesday.

Luetge has made 107 appearances for the Yankees over the last two seasons, and he posted a 2.71 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 129.2 innings during that time. It's somewhat surprising to see him cast off the 40-man roster, but the move makes room for right-hander Tommy Kahnle. Although Luetge is heading into his age-36 season, it's possible he's claimed by another club.
