Joyce picked up the save Monday against the Mariners. He allowed no hits and two walks with no strikeouts over a scoreless inning.
Joyce was wild, throwing just nine of 20 pitches for strikes, but he was able to retire the side with no damage done to secure his fifth save of the season. Walks notwithstanding, this was a nice rebound for the hard-throwing right-hander, as he took a blown save Saturday and allowed a run in both of his previous two outings. Joyce has emerged as the top ninth-inning option for the Angels, posting a 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 15:9 K:BB in 13.1 frames.

Angels' Ben Joyce: Blows second save Saturday
Joyce was charged with his second blown save of the season in Saturday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Nationals, allowing one run on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning. He struck out one.
The Angels staged a late rally to take a 5-4 lead in the top of the ninth inning, but Joyce couldn't close the door in the bottom of the frame. The right-hander is 4-for-6 in converting save chances since taking over the closer role in mid-August, and over 10 appearances since he's posted a 4.82 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 12:6 K:BB in 9.1 innings.

Angels' Ben Joyce: Holds on for fourth save
Joyce earned the save against Boston on Wednesday, allowing a run on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning. He struck out one.
The hard-throwing right-hander wasn't sharp, tossing only 13 of his 22 pitches for strikes, but he held on for the save Wednesday. With Jordan Romano in Colorado and Kirby Yates in Pittsburgh, Joyce should continue to be viewed as the favorite for saves in the Angels' bullpen from here on out. He has a 3.18 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB with four saves (five chances) over 11.1 innings so far this year.

Angels' Ben Joyce: Blows save, takes first loss
Joyce (0-1) blew a save and took the loss against the Rangers on Friday, allowing two unearned runs on two hits and one walk with one strikeout while recording two outs in the 10th inning.
Joyce was summoned to close out a one-run lead in the 10th inning and recorded two quick outs. It was downhill from there, though, as he yielded an RBI double before the game-winning run scored on a throwing error. Despite the end result, the 25-year-old has now gone seven straight outings without allowing an earned run since making his season debut Aug. 5. He owns three saves and one hold over that span to go along with a strong 9:2 K:BB and should remain the club's favorite for save chances down the stretch.

Joyce struck out two batters in a perfect inning to earn the save Tuesday in a 3-1 win over the Astros.
Joyce once again had no trouble closing out a victory, picking up his third save over the last week. Through six scoreless innings this season, he's allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out eight. The Angels haven't had Joyce pitch consecutive days yet, but it looks like he'll continue to see the majority of the save chances for the rest of the campaign.

Joyce pitched a scoreless and hitless inning in relief against Baltimore on Wednesday, walking one batter and striking out one.
Joyce was activated from the 60-day IL on Tuesday after being deemed ready to return from right shoulder surgery. The flamethrowing reliever showed that he still has impressive velocity, throwing nine of his 16 pitches over 100 mph and topping out at 102.2 mph. Joyce's command was a bit spotty -- he threw eight balls and eight strikes -- but that didn't cost him in the scoring column. Joyce has always had closer-like stuff, and with the Angels trading away Kirby Yates and Ryan Zeferjahn at the deadline, there's a clear path for Joyce to work his way up to the closer role before the end of the campaign.

The Angels activated Joyce (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
Joyce is finally ready to make his season debut for the Angels following a long road back from right shoulder surgery. The reliever had to be pulled off an initial rehab assignment back in May because he wasn't recovering well in between outings, but it went smoother after he restarted things in July. Joyce's numbers on his rehab assignment -- 5.06 ERA, 12:8 K:BB in 10.2 innings -- were underwhelming, and he did not appear in back-to-back games. So, while there's a clear opening at closer for the Angels, it's unlikely Joyce will be thrown back into the role right away.

Joyce (shoulder) averaged 100.2 mph with his fastball in a one-inning rehab appearance in the Arizona Complex League on Thursday, Taylor Blake Ward of TheSportingTribune.com reports.
Joyce's fastball topped out at 102.3 mph, and he's now thrown 2.2 innings since resuming his rehab assignment following a setback in May.
