Schwarber went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 12-3 win over the Cardinals.

Schwarber drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning before adding a solo blast in the eighth. The 33-year-old is hitting just .216 in 31 games since the All-Star break, but he's now gone deep five times over his past 12 contests. On the season, he's slashing .245/.363/.529 with a major-league-leading 38 long balls, 76 RBI, 75 runs scored and three steals across 555 plate appearances.

Ohtani (knee) threw a 30-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

For the first time since making his last appearance as a pitcher July 3, Ohtani faced off against hitters in what marked a major milestone in his recovery from a lingering left knee issue and a more minor triceps injury. Manager Dave Roberts said afterward that Ohtani will likely need to throw one more live BP before getting cleared to pitch in games, but the two-way superstar doesn't seem to be too far away from doing so. Once he's eventually ready to start as a pitcher, Ohtani will likely be operating with a restricted workload and could need to be piggybacked.

Suarez is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cardinals.

Suarez will receive a routine day of rest after being in the lineup for each of the previous 16 contests. Elly De La Cruz is getting a designated-hitter day, while Ke'Bryan Hayes will handle third base for the Reds.

Nootbaar entered Wednesday's game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in a 7-6 extra-inning victory over the Red Sox.

Nootbaar stepped in for Jordan Lawlar in the sixth inning and took Greg Weissert deep to give Arizona a 5-2 lead. It was Nootbaar's first homer since being acquired by the Diamondbacks at the trade deadline. The former Cardinal entered the game having gone 5-for-35 (.143) with one RBI over the previous 11 contests in an Arizona uniform.

Tena went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's win over the Rangers.

Tena kicked off the scoring with a solo shot to straightaway center field in the third inning off righty Kumar Rocker. Tena sees most of his action as a designated hitter but got his second start of the season in left field Wednesday. The 25-year-old is slashing .233/.304/.393 with seven homers and 20 RBI in 206 at-bats this year against righties, against whom he gets most of his opportunities.

Madris signed a minor-league contract with the Cardinals on Wednesday.

Madris began the year with the Cardinals but was released in July to pursue an opportunity in Korea. After slashing .175/.278/.381 across 72 plate appearances while overseas, the 30-year-old will now reunite with St. Louis and figures to remain in Triple-A as organizational depth for the remainder of the year.

Nootbaar is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.

The left-handed-hitting Nootbaar will wind up sitting for a second straight contest while the Red Sox send another southpaw (Payton Tolle) to the bump. Nootbaar is slashing just .143/.244/.229 over 41 plate appearances versus lefties this season.

Mets interim manager Andy Green said Wednesday that Polanco will undergo season-ending surgery on his left ankle, Steve Gelbs of SNY.tv reports.

Polanco has been limited to only 37 games with the Mets while battling a nagging ankle/Achilles issue throughout the campaign. It's unclear what the exact nature of the procedure will be or how long his rehab might last, though Green said that the 33-year-old should be ready to take part in baseball activities by the start of spring training, per David Lennon of Newsday. Polanco --who is set to earn $23 million in 2027 in his final year under contract -- finishes his first season in New York with an ugly .148/.201/.230 slash line over 145 plate appearances. He made his first two starts of the season at first base but served exclusively as a designated hitter thereafter, so he'll likely be eligible only as a utility player in most fantasy leagues at the start of the 2027 campaign.

The Mets placed Polanco on the 10-day injured list with left ankle bursitis.

Polanco has dealt with a left ankle/Achilles issue throughout the season and it's become clear the nagging injury has greatly affected him, leading to a lowly .148/.201/.230 batting line with two home runs over 37 contests. The Mets didn't reveal a timetable for Polanco's return, but it wouldn't be surprising if he was shut down for the season.

Yelich went 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 22-0 blowout win over the Mariners.

Yelich delivered one of the biggest blows of Milwaukee's offensive explosion, taking Bryce Miller deep for a three-run homer in the fifth inning. Yelich later added his season-high fourth RBI on a sacrifice fly during the Brewers' nine-run eighth inning. The big performance was a welcome sight after Yelich entered Tuesday batting just .133 with a 1:15 BB:K across 13 August games. It's been a down year overall for the 34-year-old in his 14th MLB season, as he's slashing .228/.308/.374 while tracking toward career-low production in several major offensive categories.
