Ohtani went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the Rockies.

Ohtani has reached the 30-homer mark for the sixth year in a row, though he's still well off the pace that saw him club more than 50 homers in each of the previous two seasons. The superstar has made his presence felt with four homers and nine RBI over his last nine contests. He's batting .294 with a .948 OPS this season, to go with 80 RBI, 82 runs scored, 24 doubles, three triples and seven stolen bases. Ohtani also threw a bullpen session Tuesday as he continues to work his way back from knee issues that have kept him off the mound in game action since July 3.

Eldridge went 2-for-4 with a solo home run during the Giants' 8-1 loss to the Guardians on Tuesday.

The Giants' hitters didn't have much of an answer for Guardians southpaw Foster Griffin, but Eldridge got his team on the board with a solo long ball in the second inning. It was the 14th home run of the season for Eldridge, three of which have come over his last six games. He has a .788 OPS with one steal, 33 RBI and 29 extra-base hits over 335 plate appearances this season.

Ohtani (knee) threw a scheduled bullpen session Tuesday, which appeared to go well, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.

Ohtani threw another bullpen following his last session Friday. The 32-year-old said Friday that his left knee did not bother him during that day's activity, and he gave manager Dave Roberts a thumbs-up following his session Tuesday. Considering his recent progress, facing live hitters may be on the horizon.

Ohtani went 4-for-5 with two homers, three total RBI and four total runs scored in Monday's 11-5 win over the Rockies.

Ohtani blasted off twice, crushing a solo homer off Tomoyuki Sugano in the fifth inning before taking Juan Mejia deep for a two-run shot in the sixth frame. It was a big offensive performance for the two-way star, who's slashing .317/.377/.619 with five homers, 11 RBI, 11 runs and a stolen base through 16 games in August. Overall, Ohtani is hitting .295/.392/.556 with 29 homers, 78 RBI, 81 runs and seven stolen bases across 120 contests.

Ohtani is scheduled to throw another bullpen session Tuesday, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.

Ohtani stated Monday that his knee felt healthy following Friday's bullpen session, and he's optimistic that the injury is a thing of the past. Assuming all goes according to plan Tuesday, the 32-year-old will continue to ramp back up as a pitcher with the hope of returning to the mound down the stretch of the regular season and in the playoffs.

The Cubs recalled Alcantara from Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Alcantara has spent most of the 2026 season in Triple-A, where he's slashing .271/.363/.542 with five steals, 19 home runs and 49 RBI over 303 plate appearances. He's appeared in 20 games for the Cubs in 2026 and belted his first major-league homer against the Dodgers on Aug. 3. Alcantara's addition to the Cubs' 26-man roster gives the team some depth in the outfield.

The Padres announced Monday that Andujar (wrist) has been cleared to begin a swing progression, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Andujar went down just after the All-Star break with a fractured right wrist. He will ramp up a swinging progression before eventually heading out on a rehab assignment. Andujar is without a timeline to return from the 10-day injured list, but he appears unlikely to make it back before the end of August.

Tena is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets.

Tena has been included in the lineup just once in the Nationals' last six games, missing out on two starts against right-handed pitching during that span. Rather than calling upon Tena to hold down the strong side of a platoon at designated hitter, the Nationals may be content to rotate players at that spot to open up more at-bats for the likes of Brady House and Andres Chaparro.

Yelich is out of the lineup Sunday against the Dodgers.

After drawing a start against southpaw Justin Wrobleski in Saturday's 4-1 win, the left-handed-hitting Yelich will move to the bench for the series finale while the Dodgers send another lefty (Tarik Skubal) to the hill. William Contreras will replace Yelich as the Brewers' designated hitter.

Nootbaar is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Jody Jackson of DBacks.tv reports.

Nootbaar will sit for the second time in the series while the Diamondbacks go with Max Kepler in left field and Gabriel Moreno at designated hitter. Since being acquired from the Cardinals on Aug. 3, Nootbaar has gone just 5-for-32 (.156) with one stolen base, two runs and one RBI through 11 games.
