  • Athletics' Shea Langeliers: Idle for series finale

Langeliers isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game versus Atlanta.

Langeliers will retreat to the bench Thursday after going 1-for-8 during the first two games of the series. Austin Wynns will take his place behind the plate and bat seventh in the series finale.

  • David Banuelos DH | MIN

Orioles' David Banuelos: Going back to minors

The Orioles optioned Banuelos to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Banuelos was added to the roster prior to the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Mets, but he didn't play in that contest and is now headed back to the minors. Reliever Colin Selby will absorb Banuelos' roster spot.

  • Danny Jansen C | TEX

    Rays' Danny Jansen: Resting Thursday

Jansen isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Jansen will head to the bench to begin Tampa Bay's four-game set against Boston after going 2-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored during the Rays' previous series in Detroit. Matt Thaiss will catch for Taj Bradley instead Thursday and bat eighth.

  • Riley Adams C | WAS

Nationals' Riley Adams: Sitting down Thursday

Adams isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cardinals, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

The Nationals will give Adams a chance to regroup Thursday after the 29-year-old backstop went 1-for-12 with four strikeouts over his last three contests. Drew Millas will start at catcher instead and bat eighth.

  • Luis Torrens DH | NYM

Mets' Luis Torrens: Out of lineup for second game

Torrens is not in the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader in Baltimore.

After going 0-for-4 at the dish in the first game of the twin bill, Torrens will grab a seat for the nightcap. Hayden Senger is catching and batting ninth as the Mets try to avoid the doubleheader sweep.

  • Pedro Pages C | STL

Cardinals' Pedro Pages: Sitting out Thursday

Pages is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Nationals.

Pages had made nine starts in a row at catcher, so he's earned a breather for Thursday's series finale. Yohel Pozo will be behind the dish and bat eighth for the Cardinals.

  • Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Receiving rest Thursday

Stephenson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins.

Jose Trevino will get another turn behind the plate while Stephenson heads to the bench for the second time in the series. Stephenson still appears to be the Reds' clear No. 1 backstop, but he's been in the midst of a lull at the dish of late, having gone 6-for-33 with no home runs and a 33.3 percent strikeout rate over his last 12 games.

  • David Banuelos DH | MIN

Orioles' David Banuelos: Added to roster

The Orioles selected Banuelos' contract from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday.

Banuelos will serve as a third catcher for an Orioles club that's dealing with myriad injuries at the position. The 28-year-old has gone just 5-for-48 (.104 average) at the plate this season with Norfolk.

  • James McCann C | ARI

Diamondbacks' James McCann: Guides another struggling starter

McCann went 1-for-2 with two walks, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 8-2 win over San Diego.

McCann's been a welcome addition to the offense, going 7-for-20 (.350) with six walks, four extra-base hits, four RBI and six runs scored over his first seven contests. However, his biggest contribution may be as a manager of pitchers. After backstopping Zac Gallen through two consecutive strong outings, McCann guided Brandon Pfaadt through eight innings, the starter's longest outing of the season. Prior to McCann's arrival, Pfaadt had failed to pitch six innings in seven straight starts (8.48 ERA), but he's thrown six and now eight innings (12 strikeouts, 3.86) in his two starts with McCann as a batterymate.

  • Braves' Drake Baldwin: Slugs three-run homer

Baldwin went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in a 9-2 win against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Baldwin helped Atlanta get off to a big start, mashing a 431-foot, three-run shot to center field in the first inning. It was his second homer over his past four games, a span in which he's gone 5-for-15 with five RBI and just two strikeouts. Baldwin is making a viable case for NL Rookie of the Year honors, posting a .278/.353/.489 slash line with 11 home runs, 31 RBI and 21 runs scored over 61 games.
