The Red Sox optioned Grullon to their alternate training site Wednesday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

As anticipated, Grullon's stint with Boston lasted only one day after the Red Sox designated him as their 29th man for the doubleheader with his former team, the Phillies. Grullon started behind the plate in the second game (a 5-2 Boston win), going 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

Narvaez is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Tigers.

With southpaw Matthew Boyd on the hill, Narvaez will retreat to the bench. Jacob Nottingham will start behind the dish and bat ninth.

Nola went 1-for-4 with a home run, another run scored and four RBI in Tuesday's win over the Rockies.

He was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning and then hit a three-run blast in the second inning to help San Diego score 10 runs in the first two frames alone. Nola now has two home runs and five RBI over his last two games.

Grandal went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Tuesday against the Pirates.

Grandal took Dovydas Neverauskas yard in the fifth inning for his sixth homer of the season. He now has at least one hit in seven of last eight contests, collecting two home runs, six RBI and six runs scored in that span. Overall, Grandal is hitting .257/.372/.460 with 18 runs scored and 20 RBI across 137 plate appearances.

Maldonado is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Athletics, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Maldonado went 0-for-3 with a strikeout during the matinee and will take a seat for the nightcap. Dustin Garneau will start behind the plate for Houston in Game 2.

Murphy is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Astros.

Murphy went 0-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout during Game 1, and he won't be starting both games of the doubleheader. Jonah Heim will take over behind the plate in Game 2.

Vazquez is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against Philadelphia, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Vazquez went 4-for-4 during Game 1 of the twin bill, but it's not a surprise he won't be catching both games Tuesday. Deivy Grullon will take over behind the plate and bat seventh in Game 2.

Thaiss was recalled and will start Tuesday against the Rangers, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Thaiss was called up to fill in at second base for the Angels after Franklin Barreto (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Luis Rengifo (thumb) could be the favorite for playing time when he's healthy, but Thaiss will get the starting nod Tuesday while Rengifo remains day-to-day. Thaiss appeared in five major-league games earlier in the season and went 2-for-10 with two runs and three strikeouts.

Smith is not in the lineup Tuesday against Arizona.

Smith and Austin Barnes have alternated starts behind the plate over the last six games. Barnes will take his turn Tuesday, but Smith should be back in the lineup Wednesday if the pattern continues.

Stephenson was recalled by the Reds on Tuesday.

The talented young backstop made his MLB debut back in late july, going 2-for-2 with a homer in his lone game. He doesn't have a clear path to playing time behind the plate down the stretch, with Tucker Barnhart and Curt Casali both healthy, but the Reds likely didn't call him up just to have him stuck on the bench, so he's likely to find his way into the lineup occasionally over the final three weeks.
