  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

    Tigers' Gio Urshela: Sitting Saturday

Urshela is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals.

Urshela will begin Saturday's game in the dugout after going 1-for-6 over the first two games of the series. Andy Ibanez will start at the hot corner and bat fifth against Royals right-hander Michael Lorenzen.

  • Royals' Maikel Garcia: Sitting Saturday

Garcia is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

Garcia will get a breather Saturday after going 2-for-10 with two runs scored and two stolen bases over the first two games of the series. Michael Massey will start at second base and bat sixth.

  • Miguel Vargas 2B | CHW

White Sox's Miguel Vargas: First homer with ChiSox

Vargas went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Friday against the Twins.

Vargas has immediately stepped into a significant role with his new club, and he served as the leadoff hitter Friday. His homer in the third inning marked his first hit with the White Sox and fourth long ball of the season.

  • Jonah Bride 3B | TEX

Marlins' Jonah Bride: Pops second homer

Bride went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's loss to Atlanta.

Slotting in as the depleted Marlins' cleanup hitter for the third straight game, Bride went yard for the second time during that stretch and the second time this season as he took Spencer Schwellenbach deep in the first inning. Bride has gone 7-for-23 (.304) in seven games since being called back up from Triple-A in late July, but his 2:10 BB:K -- not to mention his career .204/.299/.264 slash line over 347 plate appearances in the majors -- makes it tough to trust that his current hot streak will last much longer.

  • Ernie Clement SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Ernie Clement: Drives in three against Yankees

Clement went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and three RBI in Friday's win over the Yankees.

Getting the start at third base and batting sixth, Clement delivered his fourth multi-hit performance in the last eight games. The 28-year-old old utility player has become a fixture at the hot corner thanks to a .281/.307/.448 slash line since the beginning of July with three homers, two steals, nine runs and 18 RBI in 26 contests.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Drives OPS north of 1.000

Devers went 2-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 11-6 win over the Rangers.

Devers had another multi-hit effort to extend a hit streak to nine games. In seven of those nine contests he's had multiple knocks, including nine doubles, one triple and two home runs. That power surge has driven his season OPS to 1.002 (fourth in MLB).

  • Reds' Santiago Espinal: Hit streak ends

Espinal started at third base and went 0-for-3 in Friday's 3-0 loss to San Francisco.

Espinal, who made a fifth consecutive start, saw an end to a nine-game hit streak (as a starter). He entered Friday's game in a 19-for-35 stretch over the previous 12 games, which led to an increase in playing time, including starts at third base the last two games. The primary starter at the hot corner, Noelvi Marte, is batting .177 since coming back from a suspension and could be susceptible to losing playing time to Espinal.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Padres' Donovan Solano: Pops fourth homer

Solano went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Rockies.

Solano has played in just five games since the All-Star break, as there isn't room for him in the lineup when all of Jake Cronenworth, Luis Arraez and Xander Bogaerts are playing. Despite the limited action, Solano has gone 5-for-12 over those five games. The utility man has a .300/.355/.417 slash line with four homers, 21 RBI, 21 runs scored, nine doubles and one stolen base over 197 plate appearances this season. His playing time would likely pick up if there was an injury to one of the Padres' other infielders.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Clubs homer, double in loss

Machado went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Rockies.

Machado was the only Padre with multiple hits in the contest. He's swinging a hot bat, going 10-for-22 (.455) with four homers and six RBI over his last five games. The third baseman is up to 17 homers, 59 RBI, 52 runs scored, 18 doubles, five stolen bases and a .269/.319/.442 slash line through 103 contests. A 30-homer campaign is still a longshot, but a power surge over the final two months of the season would make it possible.

  • Royce Lewis 3B | MIN

Twins' Royce Lewis: Launches 12th homer in win

Lewis went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBI and a walk in Friday's 10-2 victory over the White Sox.

Lewis opened the game's scoring when he popped a two-run homer off Davis Martin in the first inning. He picked up two more RBI in the third when he cracked a double. Lewis has collected six extra-base hits -- two homers and four doubles -- in 29 plate appearances since returning from a groin injury July 26. When in the lineup, the Minnesota slugger is a formidable power bat, as he is now slashing .286/.357/.679 across 126 plate appearances this season.
