  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

    Dodgers' Max Muncy: Sitting Friday

Muncy will be on the bench Friday against the Angels.

Muncy had started each of the Dodgers' first 20 games but hadn't had much success at the plate, hitting .169/.289/.351. Edwin Rios will be the first baseman Friday, with Enrique Hernandez starting at second.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Day off Friday

Escobar is out of the lineup Friday against the Padres.

The 31-year-old was out of the lineup for the first time this season Sunday, and he'll return to the bench Friday after going 3-for-15 with two RBI and four strikeouts in the past three games. Escobar has a .470 OPS and 25 percent strikeout rate through 75 plate appearances this season. Andy Young will start at the hot corner for Arizona.

  • J.D. Davis 1B | LAA

Mets' J.D. Davis: Not in Friday's lineup

Davis is out of the lineup Friday against the Phillies.

Davis started the last 11 games but will head to the bench after going 0-for-9 with five strikeouts in the past two contests. Andres Gimenez will start at the hot corner for the Mets on Friday.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Day off Friday

Suarez is not in the lineup Friday against the Pirates.

Suarez started the first 19 games of the season, but he'll take a seat Friday after going 1-for-12 with six strikeouts over the past three games. Kyle Farmer will take over at third base for the Reds, while Josh VanMeter starts at the keystone.

  • Ke'Bryan Hayes 3B | CIN

Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Not ready for prime time

The Pirates have no immediate plans to recall Hayes, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Hayes missed all of summer camp after testing positive for COVID-19 and is considered behind the team's other options at third base. Although the time has past when a recall would mean that the organization would lose a year of control with Hayes, general manager Ben Cherington said he has concerns about the third baseman's "game readiness."

  • Nick Senzel 3B | LAD

Reds' Nick Senzel: Big day at plate

Senzel went 3-for-4 with a double, a home run and four RBI against the Pirates on Thursday.

Senzel connected for his second home run of the season, taking Trevor Williams deep in the fourth inning for a two-run homer. Two frames earlier, he delivered an RBI single to drive in the Reds' first run of the contest. Through 49 plate appearances, Senzel is hitting .262/.333/.524.

  • Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL

Reds' Kyle Farmer: Retreats to bench

Farmer is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Pirates.

Farmer had started five of the past six games at either middle-infield spot, but he'll take a seat in the series opener while Josh VanMeter gets a look at the keystone. Regular second baseman Mike Moustakas (quadriceps) remains on the injured list and is without a clear timeline for a return, so Farmer should have the chance to see the bulk of the starts at the position so long as he performs reasonably well offensively.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Delivers three-run homer

McMahon went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and three strikeouts during Wednesday's 13-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.

The 25-year-old crushed the three-run shot to left field Wednesday to give the Rockies a brief lead, but he still managed to whiff three times for the third straight game. McMahon is off to a tough start this season with a .220/.299/.390 slash line, two homers and 28 strikeouts through 67 plate appearances.

  • Brian Anderson RF | ATL

Marlins' Brian Anderson: Blasts three-run homer

Anderson went 1-for-6 with a three-run home run Wednesday against the Blue Jays.

Anderson took Nate Pearson deep in the first inning, getting the Marlins out to an early lead. He struggled the rest of the game, however, whiffing in four of his next five at-bats. That pushed his strikeout rate to 31 percent for the season, though Anderson has still managed to hit .286/.288/.619 with four home runs, eight runs scored and 13 RBI across 49 plate appearances.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Rockies' Nolan Arenado: Blasts two homers

Arenado went 3-for-5 with two homers, a double and three RBI in Wednesday's 13-7 loss to the Diamondbacks.

The 29-year-old launched his fifth and sixth homers of the season Wednesday, which traveled 426 and 441 feet, respectively. Arenado entered the series against Arizona in an 0-for-13 skid, but he went 8-for-12 with three homers, two doubles and seven RBI across the three games.
