  • Nick Maton DH | CHW

Phillies' Nick Maton: Sent down Wednesday

Maton was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.

Maton was called up by the Phillies last week after Jean Segura (groin) was placed on the injured list, but he only appeared in one game during his most recent stint in the majors. He should see more consistent at-bats in the minors, while Matt Moore (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Cubs' Patrick Wisdom: Gets back on track with solo homer

Wisdom went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-1 win over Cleveland.

After a scorching start to the season, Wisdom entered the contest having gone 5-for-30 with only one home run over his past 11 games. He bounced back a bit Tuesday, slugging a solo homer to center field in the eighth inning. Despite the recent rough stretch, Wisdom still has a fine .284/.346/.716 slash line on the season and has racked up 10 homers along with 14 RBI in 81 plate appearances.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Not starting Tuesday

McMahon is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Mariners.

McMahon finds himself on the bench for the second straight contest despite the fact that the Rockies have the benefit of the designated hitter in an AL park Tuesday. Joshua Fuentes will receive the start at the hot corner.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

    Dodgers' Max Muncy: Officially reinstated

Muncy (oblique) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Tuesday's game against the Padres, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Manager Dave Roberts said Monday that Muncy was expected to rejoin the lineup Tuesday, and now the club has made his activation official. Muncy spent just the minimum 10 days on the IL and is expected to start at second base Tuesday with Albert Pujols getting the start at first base against lefty Blake Snell. Zach Reks was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding roster move.

  • Diamondbacks' Ildemaro Vargas: Clears waivers

Vargas has been outrighted to Triple-A Reno after clearing waivers, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.

Vargas has slashed a terrible .137/.200/.176 across 55 major-league plate appearances with the Diamondbacks, Cubs and Pirates this season. He didn't attract any interest on waivers after being DFA'd by Arizona on Saturday, so he'll continue to provide the club infield depth at Reno for the time being.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: On bench again Tuesday

Escobar (quadriceps) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.

Escobar won't start for the second straight game after he sat out Monday's 5-1 win in the series opener with a right quadriceps strain. The Diamondbacks indicated prior to the contest that Escobar was available off the bench, so he wouldn't seem to be at risk of landing on the injured list. Josh VanMeter is set to fill in for Escobar at the hot corner Tuesday.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Reds' Eugenio Suarez: Socks 15th homer

Suarez went 2-for-4 with a walk, a home run and three RBI in Monday's 7-5 extra-innings loss to the Twins.

He got the Reds on the board in the fourth inning with a two-run shot off J.A. Happ. Suarez is starting to make some consistent contact, slashing .270/.317/.459 over his last 10 games with 12 RBI and two of his 15 homers on the year.

  • Padres' Manny Machado: Three hits, steal

Machado went 3-for4 with a three-run home run and a stolen base in a 6-2 win over the Dodgers on Monday.

Machado tagged Los Angeles starter Julio Urias for a three-run blast in the first inning and later singled in the fifth and seventh for his first three-hit game since April. The steal came after Machado's first single and was his second in three games, though he's noticeably been less active since swiping five bases in April. The third baseman is now slashing .258/.340/.459 with 47 RBI, which places him 15th in the bigs.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Expected back in lineup Tuesday

Manager Dave Roberts said Monday that he expects Muncy (oblique) to return to the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Roberts said over the weekend that he anticipated the infielder being activated from the 10-day IL either Tuesday or Wednesday. It now looks like the club has zeroed in on Tuesday to reinstate Muncy, so if all goes to plan, the 30-year-old should be back in the middle of the Los Angeles lineup for the second game of the three-game set.

  • Diamondbacks' Eduardo Escobar: Available off bench Monday

Escobar has been diagnosed with a minor right quad strain and is available off the bench Monday against the Brewers, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Escobar was removed from Sunday's game agains the Dodgers with tightness in his right quad and is not in the starting lineup for the series opener against Milwaukee. However, given that he's available off the bench Monday, the infielder seems on track to return to the starting nine in the coming days.
