Reds' Noelvi Marte: Smacks second homer in blowout win

Marte went 2-for-5 with a solo home run -- his second of the season -- and an additional RBI in Friday's 19-2 win over St. Louis.

Marte slugged one of six Reds home runs on the night, one shy of matching the franchise single-game record. Cincinnati was able to keep its faint hopes for a wild-card spot alive with the win, and Marte has been an integral contributor to the team's postseason push. The 21-year-old rookie has recorded at least one hit in 14 of his last 15 starts and is slashing .357/.400/.471 in September.

Kieboom's long ball -- his fourth of the campaign -- was one of five home runs on the night for the Nationals, tying a season high for the club. The 26-year-old has heated up with a .762 OPS over his last 10 games, but he's still been stuck in a timeshare at third base with Ildemaro Vargas as the season winds down.

  • Jace Peterson SS | ARI

Diamondbacks' Jace Peterson: Logs fourth steal

Peterson went 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Astros.

Peterson has just four steals this season, two of which have come over his last three games. He's seen spotty playing time in September, going 8-for-39 (.205) with four walks over 16 contests this month. The third baseman is slashing .213/.304/.310 with six home runs, 37 RBI, 35 runs scored, 10 doubles and four triples over 133 games between Arizona and Oakland this season.

  • Nationals' Ildemaro Vargas: Out of Friday's lineup

Vargas isn't in the Nationals' lineup Friday against Atlanta.

  • Jared Triolo 3B | PIT

Pirates' Jared Triolo: Making case for 2024 role

Triolo went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored Thursday against the Phillies.

Since Sept. 9, he's hit .375 (18-for-48) with two home runs, five RBI and 12 runs scored, and he's recorded seven multi-hit performances across 14 starts. The Pirates will have a number of younger infielders vying for playing time to begin 2024, and Triolo may have added his name to the mix with the way he's wrapping up the current campaign.
