Nationals' Nick Senzel: Homer, three hits in win

Senzel went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run, three total RBI and an additional run scored in Saturday's 7-3 win over Atlanta.

Senzel extended the Nationals' lead to 4-0 with an RBI double in the fourth inning, his second two-bagger of the day, before blasting a two-run homer off Dylan Lee in the sixth. It's the first three-hit game of the year for Senzel, who'd gone 0-for-10 in his previous three contests. The 28-year-old Senzel is now slashing .243/.352/.441 with six homers, 16 RBI and 18 runs scored across 43 games while holding down the regular third-base job in Washington.

  • Max Muncy 3B | LAD

Dodgers' Max Muncy: Taking dry swings

Muncy (oblique) has begun taking dry swings and doing plyo-ball workouts, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

This is a step forward for Muncy, as he had previously been unable to swing a bat at all after continuing to experience soreness in his oblique. However, manager Dave Roberts said last week that the third baseman is on a "slow program," so Muncy doesn't appear to be particularly close to a return. He hasn't played in a game since May 15 and will likely need to go on a rehab assignment before rejoining the big-league club.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Up as 27th man

The Mets recalled Baty from Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday.

Baty will likely serve as a backup during New York's two-game series against the Phillies in London. He figures to head back to Triple-A once the Mets return to the States, where he'll begin taking reps at second base for the first time in his career.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Dips below .200

Suarez went 0-for-4 in Friday's 10-3 loss to San Diego and is batting .198 through 63 games.

Suarez's season-opening slump continued into the month of June; he's 2-for-23 (.087) over seven games this month and dipped below .200 for the first time. He remains fourth on the team with 28 RBI, production that helped mask his slump over the first month and a half, but Suarez has delivered just five runs over the last 22 contests, and his .582 OPS has gotten harder to ignore.

  • Tristan Gray 3B | MIN

    Marlins' Tristan Gray: Joining Marlins

Gray was called up by the Marlins from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

With Tim Anderson being placed on the bereavement list and Otto Lopez going on the paternity list, Gray will jump up to the Marlins' 26-man roster. Gray briefly joined the team in May while Anderson was on the IL but only made one start, which came at third base. Gray should be expected to fill a bench role during his time in Miami.

  • Brett Baty 3B | NYM

Mets' Brett Baty: Will serve as 27th man

Baty will be recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to serve as the 27th man during this weekend's series in London versus the Phillies, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.

Baty was optioned to Syracuse a week ago following a slow start but has gone 3-for-10 with two home runs in his first two games back in the minors. He will likely operate in a reserve role for the two games in London before being sent back down early next week. Baty also revealed that the plan is for him to get some game reps at second base when he goes back to Syracuse, per Puma.

  • Eugenio Suarez DH | CIN

Diamondbacks' Eugenio Suarez: Lifts fifth homer

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Padres.

The homer was Suarez's second hit over six games in June, though both knocks have gone for extra bases. The third baseman hasn't hit for average well in the last five years, but his .202 mark this season is poor even by his usual standard. He's added a .592 OPS, five homers, 28 RBI, 24 runs scored and two stolen bases through 62 contests.

  • Cubs' Christopher Morel: Blasts 12th home run

Morel went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Thursday's 8-4 loss to the Reds.

Morel can be streaky with his power production, but he appears to be locked in right now, as he has two home runs across his last three games and three in his last seven contests. The surge has pushed him up to 12 long balls for the season. Morel popped 26 home runs last year, and he certainly could reach or surpass that figure in 2024 if he stays healthy.

  • Nick Madrigal 3B | LAA

Cubs' Nick Madrigal: Fractures hand at Triple-A

Madrigal suffered a fractured left hand when he was hit by a pitch during a game with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Tommy Birch of The Des Moines Register reports. Iowa placed him on its 7-day injured list Thursday.

Madrigal was playing in his first game with Iowa after being optioned to the affiliate earlier this week. It's not clear at this juncture how much time he might miss, but he certainly he won't be an option to return to action at Iowa for several weeks.

  • Cubs' Christopher Morel: In Thursday's lineup

Morel (foot) is starting at third base and batting cleanup Thursday against the Reds.

Morel was taken out of Wednesday's game after fouling a ball off his left foot, but he appears to be feeling well enough to return to the Cubs' lineup without a day off. The 24-year-old has posted just a .203 batting average so far this season, but he has been heating up recently, going 6-for-19 with two homers, three RBI and six runs scored across his last six games.
