Marte (suspension) recently reported to the Reds' facility in the Dominican Republic to continue participating in exhibition games before the start of the Dominican Summer League, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Marte is continuing to serve the 80-game suspension he was handed down in March for violating MLB's joint drug prevention and treatment program, but he's been able to stay in playing shape of late by appearing in extended spring training games in Arizona and now in the Dominican Republic. According to team president Nick Krall, the Reds plan to have Marte participate in games in the Dominican Republic for about a week to 10 days before he returns to the United States to begin an official rehab assignment in the minors. Marte, who hit .316 with three home runs and six stolen bases in 35 games for the Reds in 2023 following his late-season promotion to the big leagues, is eligible to make his 2024 debut for the big club June 27 in St. Louis.

Short will start at third base and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Short will draw a ninth consecutive start at the hot corner while Austin Riley (side) remains day-to-day. The 28-year-old has delivered a solid .345 on-base percentage over his prior eight starts, but he's provided little fantasy value with a .208 average, zero home runs or stolen bases and two RBI and runs during that stretch. He'll fall back into a light role once Riley is cleared to return to the lineup.

Riley (side) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.

Though Riley took a step forward in his recovery from a left side strain by taking swings Tuesday, he'll remain on the bench for the ninth game in a row Wednesday. Provided he didn't experience any setbacks from Tuesday's activity and is continuing to show daily improvement, Riley still looks like he'll avoid the injured list, and his return to the lineup could happen any day.

Chapman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning loss to the Pirates.

Chapman has gone 16-for-43 (.372) with eight extra-base hits and eight RBI over his last 11 games. The third baseman's homer Tuesday gave the Giants a 5-2 lead in the seventh inning. He's up to six long balls, 22 RBI, 30 runs scored, 13 doubles and five stolen bases while slashing .243/.303/.411 over 48 contests. While his .714 OPS is notably down from last year, he seems to have turned a corner in May by batting .279 after hitting just .212 in April.

McMahon went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics.

McMahon kicked off the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning off of Aaron Brooks for his only hit of the evening. He's now upped his hitting streak to nine games and is slashing .378/.310/.676 with three homers, seven RBI and nine runs scored. He's maintained an average north of .300 for the majority of the season thus far and is currently riding a streak of 19 consecutive plate appearances without striking out.

Senzel is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

Senzel went 0-for-5 with a walk in the first two games of the series and will receive a day off for the finale. The Nationals will roll with Ildemaro Vargas at third base against Simeon Woods Richardson and the Twins.

Baty is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

The lefty-hitting Baty is on the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Triston McKenzie), likely signaling that he's at least temporarily lost hold of his role as the Mets' preferred third baseman. Though he's drawn positive reviews for his work defensively this season, Baty has failed to take a notable step forward at the plate, as he's posted a .611 OPS through 150 plate appearances. Baty has performed especially poorly over the past three weeks, going just 5-for-40 with 19 strikeouts against three walks across a stretch of 13 games. Mark Vientos looks like he'll get an extended look at the hot corner as the Mets look to bolster their slumping offense.

Rivera went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Brewers.

Getting the start at third base and batting seventh against lefty Robert Gasser, Rivera had his first multi-hit performance since May 1 and his first extra-base hit since April 28. The 27-year-old has been back in a short-side platoon role for most of May with Jake Burger healthy, and Rivera's hitting just .240 (6-for-25) on the month with two RBI and five runs.

Vientos will start at third base and bat sixth in Wednesday's game in Cleveland, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Vientos earned another start at the hot corner after homering and doubling in Tuesday's loss to the Guardians. Both starts have come against right-handed pitching, which is notable since he and the left-handed-hitting Brett Baty had been in a strict platoon. Vientos is slashing .360/.407/.720 in eight games with the Mets this season.

Vientos went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to Cleveland.

Vientos got the Mets on the board in the fifth inning with a 430-foot bomb off Xzavion Curry before doubling in the sixth and scoring a second run on a Jeff McNeil homer. The 24-year-old Vientos is now 6-for-18 with four extra-base hits in five games since he was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. With Brett Baty struggling to a .180/.255/.320 slash line in May, Vientos could be in line for more playing time at the hot corner.
