Rays' Matt Duffy: Logs two rehab games with Durham

Duffy (hamstring) is 1-for-8 with three RBI over his first two rehab games with Triple-A Durham.

Duffy started at third base in his first game with the Bulls on Thursday and played seven innings in the field, and he returned to play a full game Friday as the designated hitter. Duffy hasn't had much success at the plate thus far, but of overriding importance is that his balky hamstring has held up well. It remains to be seen how many more games Duffy will need to play to be deemed ready for activation, but Durham is expected to be the last stop in his rehab assignment, barring any further setbacks.

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Three hits in loss

Moncada went 3-for-5 in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Athletics.

All three of Moncada's hits were singles, and he struck out in his other two at-bats. The third baseman is hitting .313/.368/.545 with 16 homers and six stolen bases this year. Over a six-game hitting streak, Moncada is 10-for-24 with two homers, five runs scored and two doubles.

  • Alex Bregman 3B | CHC

Astros' Alex Bregman: Remains sidelined Friday

Bregman (head) is not in the lineup for Friday's game at Texas since he is still being evaluated for a head injury, Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman had a tough hop hit him square in the chin Thursday, causing him to exit the contest and receive four stitches. It sounds as though the 24-year-old is being evaluated for a potential concussion, which would be much more worrisome than the chin laceration. Bregman should be considered day-to-day until more is known about the injury.

Astros' Alex Bregman: Requires four stitches

Bregman received four stitches on his chin after exiting Thursday night's game against Texas, and his status for Friday's contest is unclear, Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman was the victim of a tough hop on a groundball to shortstop, and he had to leave Thursday's contest in the third inning as a result. His availability for Friday's matchup should become more clear closer to first pitch.

Astros' Alex Bregman: Nursing chin laceration

Bregman was diagnosed with a chin laceration after leaving Thursday's game against the Rangers, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Bregman took a ball to the chin on a bad hop, though he appears to have avoided a significant injury on the play. Myles Straw could get the call at shortstop Friday if Bregman is unable to go.

Astros' Alex Bregman: Exits early vs. Rangers

Bregman left Thursday's game against Texas after taking a groundball off his chin, Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Bregman appeared to be bleeding after a groundball took a bad hop, and he departed the contest shortly after. He'll be considered day-to-day until the extent of the injury becomes known.

Rays' Matt Duffy: Moves rehab to Triple-A

Duffy (hamstring) advanced his rehab to Triple-A Durham on Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Duffy will play third base Thursday and Saturday, with a game as the designated hitter in between. He's been on and off rehab assignments for most of the season due to multiple setbacks but appears to be finally closing in on a return to the majors, if he can find room on the suddenly stacked Rays roster.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Rangers' Patrick Wisdom: Outrighted to Triple-A

Wisdom cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.

Wisdom was designated for assignment by the Rangers over the weekend but will remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 27-year-old has struggled in 61 games at Nashville this season with a .199/.310/.389 slash line and 32 percent strikeout rate.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Still with GCL Rays to begin week

Duffy (hamstring), who's slated to move his rehab assignment to High-A Charlotte, remained with the Gulf Coast League Rays on Tuesday and went 0-for-3 while logging seven innings at third base against the GCL Red Sox.

The Rays apparently opted to leave Duffy with the GCL club for at least one more game, and he was able to encouragingly able to put in another seven innings in the field. The veteran infielder had last suited up for a game last Friday, so he received plenty of rest ahead of Tuesday's action.

  • Matt Chapman 3B | SF

Athletics' Matt Chapman: Resting ahead of All-Star Game

Chapman is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners.

Manager Bob Melvin is likely just awarding Chapman a maintenance day while the 26-year-old gears up for his All-Star debut Tuesday. Chad Pinder will fill in for Chapman at the hot corner in the final game of the first half.
