  • DJ LeMahieu 2B | NYY

Yankees' DJ LeMahieu: Getting breather Sunday

LeMahieu is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

As he prepares for his third All-Star Game appearance Tuesday, LeMahieu will be given a much-deserved maintenance day as the Yankees wrap up their first-half schedule. Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre callup Breyvic Valera will fill in at the keystone while Aaron Hicks handles LeMahieu's usual leadoff duties.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Extends hitting streak

Moncada went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two walks, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Cubs.

Moncada extended his hitting streak to 12 games, going 19-for-49 (.388) with four home runs, five doubles, a triple and nine RBI during the streak. Being more aggressive at the plate has worked out well for Moncada, who has a .909 OPS while reducing his K% to 27.7, down from 33.4 last season.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Clubs two home runs

Candelario went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI in Saturday's 10-6 loss to the Red Sox.

Candelario was demoted after laboring through the first two months of the season with a .546 OPS and two homers, but he's caught fire since rejoining the Tigers in late June and is 14-for-37 with four home runs and three doubles in 10 contests. The 25-year-old should continue to see regular opportunities now that he's rediscovered his swing after the trip to the minors.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: To continue rehab assignment

Duffy (hamstring) is set to continue his rehab assignment with High-A Charlotte, Steve Carney of Sports Radio 620 WDAE reports.

Duffy reported no soreness from an earlier rehab assignment with the Gulf Coast League Rays. He started at third base both Thursday and Friday, a positive sign for his health after battling the injury since February.

  • Patrick Wisdom 3B | SEA

Rangers' Patrick Wisdom: Designated for assignment

Wisdom was designated for assignment Saturday.

The move was made to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Pedro Payano. Wisdom is hitting just .199/.310/.389 across 259 plate appearances with Triple-A Nashville this season.

  • Red Sox's Rafael Devers: Swats fourth homer in four games

Devers went 1-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 9-6 win over Detroit.

Devers delivered a two-run shot in the second inning, giving him four homers over the last four games. He's been putting on a hitting clinic the last two months. Since May 3, the night he hit his first home run of the season, the 22-year-old third baseman is slashing .350/.388/.655 with 16 home runs, 17 doubles, two triples, 51 RBI and 51 runs scored over 53 games.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Two more hits Friday

Candelario went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI in Friday's 9-6 loss to the Red Sox.

Candelario has been swinging a hot bat since returning to the majors on June 26. In nine games, the 25-year-old has hit safely eight times and has a .375/.459/.656 slash line. The 28-55 Tigers should be inclined to keep giving Candelario regular playing time as they evaluate some young players heading into 2020.

  • Matt Duffy 3B | TEX

Rays' Matt Duffy: Solid in latest rehab game

Duffy (hamstring) started at third base in the Gulf Coast Rays' win over the Gulf Coast Braves on Friday and went 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a run.

Duffy logged five innings in the field for the second consecutive night and was able to contribute offensively with his run-scoring two-bagger. The veteran is likely to only play another handful of games at most with the GCL club before moving his rehab assignment to High-A Charlotte, as per previous reports.

  • Twins' Willians Astudillo: Not close to baseball activities

Astudillo's oblique issue is fairly significant and he isn't close to returning to baseball activities, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

It's not clear when exactly Astudillo is expected to be back in the lineup, but it doesn't sound as though he'll return soon after the All-Star break. The Twins have no need to rush him back with catchers Mitch Garver and Jason Castro both performing well and plenty of quality bench bats in Marwin Gonzalez, Luis Arraez and Ehire Adrianza.

  • Gio Urshela 3B | MIN

Yankees' Gio Urshela: Rejoins lineup Friday

Urshela (leg) is starting at third base and batting sixth Friday at Tampa Bay.

Urshela had a MRI come back clean after experiencing glute cramps earlier in the week, and he's all set to go Friday. The 27-year-old is having a breakout campaign with a .307/.360/.472 slash line, 14 doubles and seven homers in 69 games.
