  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Not starting Thursday

Donaldson is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Donaldson sits for the second time this season. His Yankees career hasn't gotten off to a great start, as a three-game hitless streak has caused his slash line to fall to .174/.255/.283. Marwin Gonzalez will take over at third base.

  • Tigers' Jeimer Candelario: Posts first multi-hit effort

Candelario went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored in Wednesday's loss to the Yankees.

Candelario recorded his first multi-hit effort in 11 tries this season, as it's been a struggle in the early going for the 28-year-old. He's batting just .171 with a .488 OPS and is still seeking his first home run. Candelario batted .271 with a .794 OPS and 16 home runs in 2021, so the production will likely pick up at some point.

  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Swats grand slam

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader versus the White Sox.

Ramirez provided the biggest hit in the Guardians' nine-run second inning in the matinee. He received a little rest in the nightcap, going 1-for-3 with an RBI double and a walk as the designated hitter. Despite the productive twin bill, the third baseman's slash line slipped to .429/.479/.881 with four home runs, 20 RBI, seven runs scored and five doubles in 11 contests.

  • Jake Burger 3B | TEX

White Sox's Jake Burger: On bench for nightcap

Burger isn't starting the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Guardians.

Burger started in Wednesday's matinee and went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts. Josh Harrison will shift to the hot corner while Leury Garcia starts at second base.

  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

White Sox's Yoan Moncada: Taking controlled swings

Moncada (oblique) is now taking controlled swings, but not full-bore swings, Daryl Van Schouwen of The Chicago Sun-Times reports. "I just saw on the report, he's feeling better, but he'll make a move and might even sneeze and he'll feel something," manager Tony La Russa said. "You do something violent, take a swing and then you've got ... you've got to let that thing play out."

Moncada still doesn't have a timetable to return. He's first going to need to take full swings, then live batting practice and perhaps a simulated game before going on a rehab assignment. While the progress is better than nothing, Moncada doesn't seem especially close to coming back.

  • Ramon Urias 3B | STL

Orioles' Ramon Urias: Not starting Wednesday

Urias isn't starting Wednesday's game against Oakland.

Urias went 2-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts in his last two appearances, and he'll be out of the lineup for the second time in the last four games. Kelvin Gutierrez will start at the hot corner and bat eighth.

  • Abraham Toro 1B | BOS

Mariners' Abraham Toro: Deposits first homer

Toro went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run during Tuesday's 6-2 victory against the Rangers.

Getting the start at DH, Toro tacked on two valuable insurance runs with his seventh-inning long ball off reliever Spencer Patton. The utility man has started slow, going just 3-for-26 on the season, but he should see an everyday role while Mitch Haniger is on the COVID-19 injured list.

  • Eugenio Suarez 3B | CIN

Mariners' Eugenio Suarez: Launches long ball

Suarez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a 6-2 win over the Rangers on Tuesday.

Suarez took opposing starter Jon Gray 415-feet deep to center in first inning to provide all the run support Robbie Ray would require. The 30-year-old didn't do anything productive in his other three at-bats as he's been feast or famine of late, going 4-for-21 with two doubles and two home runs over his last six games.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Two hits in return

Rendon went 2-for-5 with a run scored in a 7-2 win Tuesday in Houston.

Rendon singled and scored in the five-run fifth inning. He had missed the previous two games with a stomach bug. After starting the season 1-for-13, he has a hit in his last five appearances and is 6-for-19 over that span. The 32-year-old has just one extra-base hit on the season and is slugging .427 since joining the Angels in 2020.

  • Anthony Rendon 3B | LAA

Angels' Anthony Rendon: Rejoins lineup Tuesday

Rendon (illness) is starting at third base and batting third Tuesday against the Astros, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Rendon was a late scratch for Monday's contest due to a stomach bug, but he's back in the lineup a day later. The 31-year-old is off to a slow start in 2022 with a .185/.303/.296 slash line and 27.3 percent strikeout rate through eight games.
