  • Jose Ramirez 3B | CLE

Guardians' Jose Ramirez: Socks homer No. 20

Ramirez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-3 loss to the Blue Jays.

He opened the scoring in the top of the first inning by crushing a Hyun Jin Ryu fastball deep to left field, but it was the last lead the Guardians would have on the afternoon. Since returning from his two-game suspension, Ramirez is slashing a tepid .233/.298/.442 over 11 contests, but his two homers during that stretch have gotten him to 20 on the year -- the third straight season, and the sixth time in his career, he's reached that mark.

Astros' Alex Bregman: Posts big stat line

Bregman went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two walks, a two-run homer, two additional RBI and two additional runs scored in Saturday's win over Detroit.

In total, Bregman reached safely in five of his six at-bats, being walked twice on top of his three hits. He finished the day with three extra-base hits after failing to record one in any of his last four appearances. Bregman's been on a heater of late, going 13-for-31 (.419) with two homers, 10 runs scored and eight RBI while striking out just four times in 39 plate appearances (10.3 percent).

The third baseman extended his hitting streak to seven games, a span in which he's gone 10-for-30 (.333) with eight RBI. For the season, he's at a .238/.330/.394 slash line with 18 home runs, 83 RBI, 51 runs scored, two stolen bases and 20 doubles over 128 contests.

  • Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Homers, drives in three

Henderson went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Friday's 5-4 victory over the Rockies.

Henderson belted a two-run blast over the right-field wall in the eighth inning that turned a one-run deficit into the winning margin for the O's. It's been a solid month for the elite prospect, and he's batting .286 with five home runs, 20 RBI and 15 runs scored since the calendar turned to August. The talented rookie is now up to 22 homers on the season.

The multi-homer effort was the seventh of LeMahieu's career but his first since May of 2021. He also added a single and a walk and scored an additional run. It's the third home run this week for LaMahieu, who has assumed leadoff duties for the Yankees of late.

Rays' Taylor Walls: Expected to return Sept. 1

Walls (oblique) is on track to be activated from the injured list Sept. 1, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Walls recently turned a corner in his recovery from the left oblique strain that sent him to the injured list four weeks ago. He'll take another round of live batting practice Sunday before then embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham that is slated to run from Tuesday through Thursday. Walls could see significant action at shortstop upon his return with Wander Franco on administrative leave.

  • Josh Donaldson 3B | MIL

Yankees' Josh Donaldson: Nears rehab assignment

Donaldson (calf) is nearing a rehab assignment, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Donaldson is performing all baseball activities without issue as he nears the completion of his recovery from the severe right calf strain that has kept him on the shelf since mid-July. He could return from the 60-day injured list when first eligible in mid-September if all goes well during his minor-league rehab stint, but the 37-year-old might only be a bench bat for New York in the closing weeks of the 2023 campaign.

Angels' Trey Cabbage: Recalled from Salt Lake

The Angels recalled Cabbage from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

The 26-year-old has slashed .406/.443/.688 with four home runs and 17 RBI across 71 plate appearances since being optioned to Salt Lake at the end of July, though his minor-league success has yet to translate to the big leagues.
