  • Nick Gonzales 2B | PIT

Pirates' Nick Gonzales: Three hits against White Sox

Gonzales went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored Saturday against the White Sox.

Gonzales reached base in each of his first three at-bats, highlighted by an RBI double in the fifth inning. It was his first multi-hit effort since July 4, and he entered Saturday's game hitting just .097 across his last nine contests. Despite the slow stretch, Gonzales is still batting .271/.327/.429 across 153 plate appearances for the season.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | TB

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Dealing with foot issue

Lowe was lifted from Saturday's game against Baltimore due to a flare-up of plantar fasciitis in his left foot, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Lowe grounded out to third base to end the bottom of the sixth inning Saturday, and Jose Caballero replaced him on defense to begin the top of the following frame. Lowe was just activated from the IL on Friday following an oblique injury, but his departure Saturday doesn't appear to be related to that issue. Topkin notes that Lowe was already scheduled to get a day off Sunday, though the slugger could be available off the bench.

  • Ozzie Albies 2B | ATL

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Drives in five runs

Albies went 2-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, one run scored, one walk and one stolen base in Saturday's 12-9 loss to the Yankees.

Albies launched his ninth home run of the season and racked up five RBI in Saturday's loss, though a bullpen meltdown spoiled the victory. The switch hitter has struggled throughout 2025, entering the game with a .614 OPS, 21 extra-base hits, 33 RBI and seven stolen bases across 96 games. He's come out of the All-Star break hot, however, with two homers and nine RBI through the first two games of the second half.

  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | CHW

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: Perfect at plate in win

Sosa went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, three RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 10-4 win over the Pirates. He was also hit by a pitch.

Sosa reached base in all five plate appearances and drove in runs with singles in the fifth and seventh innings. The 25-year-old has posted an .828 OPS over 14 July contests, recording four multi-hit efforts, three home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs scored during that stretch. For the season, he's slashing .274/.300/.422 with nine homers, 34 RBI, 29 runs scored and two stolen bases across 308 plate appearances.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Expected back Sunday

Marte (personal) is in Arizona and is likely to return to the Diamondbacks' lineup Sunday versus St. Louis, per SI.com.

Marte was placed on the restricted list Friday while dealing with a personal matter. The All-Star second baseman missed Arizona's first two games of the second half as a result, but it appears he'll be back in action Sunday. Blaze Alexander has started at the keystone for the Diamondbacks in each of the two contests that Marte has been absent for.

  • Astros' Brendan Rodgers: Suffers broken nose, concussion

Rodgers was diagnosed with a nasal fracture and a concussion Saturday following a collision during a rehab game at Triple-A Sugar Land, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

While working his way back from an oblique strain, Rodgers ran head first into shortstop Edwin Diaz on Friday. The Astros have pulled the former off his rehab assignment following his diagnoses, and he's slated to be re-evaluated in a few days, at which point a new timeline for his return may emerge.

  • Thomas Saggese SS | STL

Cardinals' Thomas Saggese: Back with Cards

The Cardinals recalled Saggese from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Saggese was sent to Memphis on Thursday after batting .133 in the majors since June 20, but he'll now return to St. Louis to make up for the loss of Nolan Gorman (back). Saggese is slashing .233/.256/.326 with 10 RBI and six runs scored through 90 MLB plate appearances on the year and could see regular time at the keystone until Gorman recovers.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Lands on IL

The Cardinals placed Gorman on the 10-day injured list Saturday with lower-back pain, retroactive to Friday, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Gorman's back began bothering him right before the All-Star break. After getting the week to rest, the 25-year-old was still unable to return to the starting nine Friday and will now remain out until at least July 28. Thomas Saggese will return to St. Louis to fill the open roster spot and may take over as the Cardinals' primary second baseman.

  • Travis Bazzana 2B | CLE

Guardians' Travis Bazzana: Two hits in return

Bazzana went 2-for-4 for Double-A Akron on Friday.

Bazzana, who was activated off the 7-day injured list Friday, started at second base and batted leadoff. He played nine innings in the field before being lifted for a pinch hitter in the 10th. He missed the last two months with an oblique injury, which has naturally put a crimp in the development of the first overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft. Second base at the major-league level is an unsettled spot that Bazzana is expected to fill when he's ready.

  • Matt McLain SS | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Two XBH in win

McLain went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, a home run, two RBI and an additional run scored in Friday's 8-4 win over the Mets.

McLain launched a two-run homer in the fourth inning to give Cincinnati the lead and later doubled and scored in the seventh. The first half of the season was a grind for McLain, but he hit .287 during the month of June and got himself on a run just before the All-Star break. McLain has hit safely in six of seven contests, including multiple hits in the last three, going 9-for-28 (.321) with two homers, two doubles, three RBI and six runs.
