  • Nolan Gorman 3B | STL

Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Sits out Tuesday

Gorman is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Brewers.

Gorman will get the day off Tuesday after slashing .200/.250/.533 over the last seven days. While he sits, Albert Pujols will serve as the Cardinals' designated hitter and bat sixth.

  • Blue Jays' Santiago Espinal: Sitting Game 2

Espinal is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Rays.

Espinal went 0-for-2 in Game 1 before being lifted for a pinch hitter during the seventh inning, and he'll remain on the bench for the nightcap. Cavan Biggio will start at the keystone in Game 2.

  • Brandon Lowe 2B | PIT

Rays' Brandon Lowe: Heading to IL

Lowe was placed on the 10-day injured list with lower-back discomfort ahead of Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Blue Jays, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports. The transaction is retroactive to Sept. 12.

Lowe was held out of the lineup Monday and for Game 1 of Tuesday's twin bill, and he'll now be unavailable for at least another week. The 28-year-old will be eligible to return from the IL on Sept. 22, though it's unclear if he's expected to be game ready by that point. Jonathan Aranda could be the primary replacement at second base, though Isaac Paredes and Taylor Walls will also be in the mix.

  • Josh Rojas 3B | CHW

Diamondbacks' Josh Rojas: Sits again versus lefty

Rojas isn't in Arizona's lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

The Dodgers will start Tuesday's game with lefty Clayton Kershaw on the mound, so Rojas will miss his second consecutive game as Arizona elects to play with favorable matchups. Just like Monday, Emmanuel Rivera will start at third base and bat fifth in the order.

  • Michael Chavis 2B | CIN

Pirates' Michael Chavis: Takes seat Tuesday night

Chavis is not in the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Reds.

Chavis went 2-for-5 and scored twice in the first game on the docket, but he will head to the bench for the nightcap to open up a spot for call-up Zack Collins.

  • Reds' Jonathan India: Gets breather in Game 2

India is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Pirates.

India recorded his first hit in four days in the first game of Tuesday's twin bill, but that was not enough to earn him two starts on the same day. Alejo Lopez will replace India at second base.

  • Tony Kemp 2B | MIN

Athletics' Tony Kemp: Out against lefty

Kemp is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Rangers.

Kemp heads to the bench with southpaw Cole Ragans on the hill for Texas. Jonah Bride will start at the keystone and hit sixth.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Sitting out Tuesday

Massey is not in the Royals' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Massey will get a breather after going 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in Sunday's win over Detroit. Nicky Lopez will cover for Massey at second base while Nate Eaton picks up a start at third, batting sixth.

  • Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Remains out of lineup

Hoerner (triceps) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mets.

A triceps injury confined Hoerner to the sidelines Monday, and he will open on the bench for one more day and possibly another, as the Cubs will have an off day Thursday. Zach McKinstry will handle the shortstop duties in Hoerner's place.

  • Luis Garcia 1B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Takes spot in Tuesday's lineup

Garcia (side) is in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Orioles.

Garcia sat out a couple games with a sore side, but he is ready to return to action on the heels of a team off day. Garcia will man the keystone and hit cleanup for the Nationals on Tuesday night.
