Marte left Saturday's game against the Cubs in the seventh inning due to right knee soreness.

After fouling a ball off his right knee in the first inning, Marte's injury caught up to him in the seventh, and he was replaced at second base by Geraldo Perdomo. Marte's injury wouldn't seem to be too severe given he remained in the game for a prolonged stretch after the initial incident.

Diaz will be on the bench for Saturday's game against the Rangers.

Diaz's .239/.294/.403 slash line in 75 games this season isn't particularly impressive, and he's gone just 3-for-19 at the plate across his last six games. Kevin Smith will take over at the hot corner Saturday.

Marte was removed from Saturday's game against the Cubs in the seventh inning, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Marte fouled a ball off his right knee in the first inning of Saturday's contest, but he was able to stay in for another six innings afterward. The fact Marte was able to remain in the game for so long likely means he's not seriously injured, but the D-backs will surely keep an eye on him. Marte should be considered day-to-day for now.

Short (forearm) will bat ninth and play shortstop Saturday against the White Sox.

Short hadn't seen the field since getting hit by a pitch Wednesday against the Yankees, though he doesn't have an everyday role at the moment, so his absence may not have been injury-related. He hasn't done much to stake a claim for more at-bats down the stretch, posting a .442 OPS in the last month and a .645 OPS on the year.

Frazier will sit Saturday against southpaw Chris Sale and the Red Sox.

Frazier has filled a strict platoon role in the second half, as the only two lefties he's started against have been openers. The Orioles have shifted Jordan Westburg to second base and inserted Jorge Mateo at shortstop against most southpaws over the last few months, and they'll go with the same setup Saturday.

The Reds added Lopez to the active roster as Stuart Fairchild's (illness) replacement Saturday.

With Fairchild headed for the COVID-19 injured list, Lopez will fill in as a depth piece for the Reds while Fairchild is out. Lopez is slashing .279/.386/.396 across 497 plate appearances in Triple-A this season, and he is unlikely to see many opportunities while with Cincinnati.

Merrifield will sit Saturday against Kansas City.

Merrifield hits the bench after going 0-for-4 in each of his last four games. Davis Schneider starts at second base Saturday while Daulton Varsho starts in left field, the two spots Merrifield has split his time between this season.

Julien will hit the bench Saturday against the Mets.

Julien has only started five games against southpaws all season, so it's no surprise to see him on the bench here against David Peterson. While he's crushed righties to the tune of an .885 OPS, his .452 OPS in a tiny sample of 42 plate appearances against lefties means he's unlikely to advance beyond a platoon role any time soon. Kyle Farmer enters the lineup, starting at third base while Royce Lewis rests his legs in Julien's usual designated hitter spot.

Hernandez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run and a walk Friday in an 8-5 victory against the Nationals.

Hernandez hit one of three homers for the Dodgers off MacKenzie Gore in the contest, swatting a solo shot to left field in the fourth inning. Hernandez continues to see semi-regular playing time for Los Angeles despite not being the primary option at any position, and he's gone 5-for-12 with two RBI over his past three games. Since rejoining the Dodgers via trade July 25, the utility man is slashing .265/.326/.436 with three homers, 18 RBI and 13 runs over 36 games.

Rengifo will undergo additional testing on his injured biceps in the next few days, Doug Padilla of The Orange Country Register reports.

Rengifo was injured while taking a practice swing in the on-deck circle during Thursday's game, and he was subsequently diagnosed with a biceps injury. The utility man said Friday that he was feeling better, though he was wearing a brace on his left elbow, and Angels manager Phil Nevin stated that his prognosis "doesn't look great." The injury comes at a particularly unfortunate time for Rengifo, as he was in the midst of his best offensive stretch of the campaign, riding a 14-game hitting streak during which he slashed .446/.476/.804 with five homers, 14 RBI, nine runs and a stolen base.
