  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Relegated to bench again

Foscue was not in the starting lineup for a third consecutive game Friday. He did enter to play first base in the final inning of Texas' 9-1 win over the Royals. Foscue had been a regular presence at second base but has watched from the bench as the recently signed Nicky Lopez started the last three games, all against right-handers. Foscue has appeared in all three contests, either as a pinch hitter or a late-game substitution. The Rangers are scheduled to face Kansas City right-hander Seth Lugo on Saturday, which could mean a fourth straight game on the bench for Foscue.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Sitting again in favor of Lopez

Foscue is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Astros. After making 11 straight starts at second base, Foscue has now sat in favor of Nicky Lopez two days in a row. Foscue is in a mini slump, having gone just 1-for-16 over his last five games, and Lopez offers the superior glove at the keystone.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Exiting starting lineup

Foscue is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Astros. Foscue had made 11 consecutive starts at second base, but he will begin Wednesday's festivities on the bench. Newcomer Nicky Lopez will draw the start at the keystone for the Rangers.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Finding groove against MLB pitching

Foscue started at second base and went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in Friday's 9-6 loss to the Angels. He was also hit by a pitch. Foscue ran a hit streak to four games, during which he's 9-for-15 with a home run, five RBI and four runs scored. He's looking like a more competent hitter in his third exposure at the MLB level. Entering 2026, the infielder was 3-for-51 (.059) in his first two stints against major-league pitching. Foscue's made seven consecutive starts and has benefited from an injury to Corey Seager (back), which forced Ezequiel Duran to slide from second base to cover shortstop.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Perfect at plate, three RBI in win

Foscue went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles, a walk and three total RBI in a loss to the Rockies on Monday. Foscue did his best to keep the Rangers in the contest, registering an RBI double in each of the second and sixth innings around a solo homer in the fifth. The 27-year-old came into the game having gone just 4-for-22 on the campaign, but his 3-for-3 performance lifted his season batting average from .182 to .280. Foscue has started four straight games for Texas and could continue to see consistent playing time moving forward while Josh Smith (lower body/wrist/illness) and Corey Seager (back) remain on the IL.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Makes third straight start

Foscue started at second base and went 0-for-4 in Sunday's 8-0 win over Houston. Foscue, who is benefitting from an injury to Josh Smith (thigh/wrist/illness), made a third consecutive start at second base. Ezequiel Duran had been filling in for Smith, but he's now needed to cover shortstop for the injured Corey Seager (back). Foscue has gone 2-for-11 in his three starts and is batting .182 over nine games since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on May 5.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Breaks up no-hit bid

Foscue started at second base and went 1-for-3 in Friday's 2-0 loss to the Astros. Foscue's single was the lone hit off Houston starter Spencer Arrighetti, who took a no-hitter into the eighth inning. Foscue started for the first time in four games, as Ezequiel Duran covered shortstop for a slumping Corey Seager (0-for-27). Since being recalled from Triple-A Round Rock, Foscue is 3-for-14 with one home run and two RBI over seven games.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Optioned to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Foscue to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. Foscue missed three weeks of action in spring training due to a strained right hamstring but progressed enough in his recovery to return to the lineup for Sunday's Cactus League game against the Dodgers, when he went 0-for-2 with one walk. He spent the vast majority of the 2025 season in Triple-A, where he slashed .261/.341/.474 with seven steals, 19 home runs and 68 RBI over 453 plate appearances. Foscue appeared in only four regular-season games for the Rangers last year, but he would be in line for a major-league call-up should Texas require more depth in the infield.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Dealing with strained hamstring

Foscue was diagnosed with a strained right hamstring Saturday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. Foscue made an early exit from Monday's Cactus League game with a hamstring injury, and imaging confirmed Saturday that he suffered a strain. He'll be shut down from baseball activities for 10 days before the Rangers re-evaluate him.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Trying to increase versatility

Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said Thursday that Foscue will be given some reps in the outfield during spring training, Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News reports. Foscue has played only in the infield both in college at Mississippi State and since entering pro ball, but increasing his versatility gives him a better chance to make the team in a reserve role. The 26-year-old has struggled mightily during his brief time in the majors, going 3-for-51 with a 2:21 BB:K.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Dispatched to minors

The Rangers optioned Foscue to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. Foscue made one start during his brief stint in the majors and will now head back to Round Rock. He is just 3-for-51 at the plate during his time with the big club dating back to the start of last season.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Rejoins big-league club

The Rangers recalled Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock on Thursday. Foscue is returning to the big-league club after the All-Star break as Michael Helman was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Foscue was sent down to Triple-A just prior to the break July 5 after not logging much playing time with the Rangers. With Jake Burger on the injured list, the Rangers could platoon Rowdy Tellez and Foscue at first base.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Optioned to Triple-A

Foscue was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. He was up for a couple weeks while Wyatt Langford (oblique) was on the shelf, but Foscue has logged only six MLB at-bats this season, going 1-for-6 with a double. He'll serve as organizational depth at Triple-A, where the 26-year-old is hitting .259 with 10 homers in 53 games.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Joining big-league club

The Rangers recalled Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. Foscue will fill Jake Burger's (oblique) spot on the 26-man roster after Burger was placed on the 10-day injured list. Foscue will be making his 2025 MLB debut if he gets into a game. He slashed .269/.360/.487 with 10 home runs in 229 plate appearances with Round Rock while playing first and second base.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Not starting against righty

Foscue is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels. Though he was deployed at designated hitter both of the past two days when the Angels sent left-handed starters to the hill, the right-handed-hitting Foscue will hit the bench for a fourth straight matchup with a right-hander (Caden Dana). Even with the recent move of Corey Seager (hip) to the injured list opening up a spot in Texas' everyday lineup versus righties, the Rangers seem inclined to rotate a number of players at DH rather than committing to Foscue in a full-time role.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Starts at first base

Foscue started at first base and went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 6-4 extra-inning win over Oakland. While the Rangers have not yet been eliminated from the postseason, the club faces a long haul -- 9.5 games back of the third wild-card spot -- over the final month. That suggests opportunities for prospects like Foscue, who could get some run at first base ahead of Nathaniel Lowe, whose contract expires this offseason.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Back in big leagues

The Rangers recalled Foscue from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. Foscue went just 1-for-17 with seven strikeouts during his most recent stint in the majors in late July. However, he's bounced back nicely since then, putting up a .964 OPS alongside six homers and 18 RBI across 117 plate appearances in Triple-A. He'll have a hard time carving out playing time behind Marcus Semien and Josh Smith, though he could be used occasionally as a designated hitter against left-handers.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Sitting Saturday

Foscue is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against Toronto. Foscue will get a breather Saturday after going 0-for-4 in Friday's 6-5 loss to Toronto. Jonah Heim will serve as the designated hitter Saturday and bat seventh against Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Draws start in return to MLB

Foscue started at designated hitter and went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Saturday's 8-4 loss to Baltimore. Foscue was called up from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday, his second stint in the majors this season. The Rangers are in the lower third of the league in OPS (.689) and are willing to give Foscue a look, as they did with Derek Hill, who was designated to make room for Foscue. The latter hit .271/.431/.469 with four home runs, seven doubles and 18 RBI in 29 games in the minors.

  • Rangers' Justin Foscue: Called up Saturday

Foscue was called up from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday. Foscue will make his return to the big leagues after missing two months with an oblique injury and then being optioned to Triple-A on June 20 upon activation from the 60-day injured list. The 25-year-old produced a .242 average with three home runs, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored and a stolen base over 19 games with Round Rock after his activation. Foscue will provide the Rangers with a depth option behind Marcus Semien at second base and Josh Smith a third base on the major-league roster with Texas.
