Brendan Donovan 2B | SEA
Mariners' Brendan Donovan: Scratched due to load management
Donovan (undisclosed) was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Padres as part of a load-management decision by Mariners manager Dan Wilson, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
Donovan has been dealing with a lingering groin injury this season, which caused him to land on the 10-day injured list in late April. He was reinstated from the IL on May 7 and has gone 6-for-28 (.214) with two runs since his return, but Donovan is considered day-to-day in the short term. That means Leo Rivas should see more work at third base on days when Donovan rests.

Jose Altuve 2B | HOU
Astros' Jose Altuve: Exits game with side injury
Altuve was removed in the ninth inning of Saturday's game against the Rangers due to a left side injury, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Altuve was holding his left side after grounding into a double play in the eighth inning and was then replaced by Nick Allen at second base. The Astros should have an update on Altuve's injury once the veteran second baseman undergoes tests Sunday, per Julia Morales of Space City Home Network. Altuve went 1-for-4 with a walk and a solo home run prior to his exit Saturday. Allen or Shay Whitcomb should be the top candidates to start at second base in Sunday's series finale if Altuve is unable to play.

Athletics' Michael Stefanic: Dropped from 40-man
The Athletics designated Stefanic for assignment Saturday.

Stefanic went 2-for-5 with a run scored during his four-day stint in the majors and owns a .706 OPS through 149 plate appearances at Triple-A Las Vegas. He'll likely spend the rest of the season as organizational depth if he clears waivers.

Athletics' Alika Williams: Traded to Athletics
The Pirates traded Williams to the Athletics on Saturday in exchange for Kyle Robinson.
The 27-year-old infielder will join the Athletics' active roster immediately upon coming over from Pittsburgh, replacing Michael Stefanic. Williams hasn't appeared in an MLB game since 2024, but he's earned an opportunity by slashing .317/.385/.467 with two homers, 18 RBI and 19 runs scored through 135 plate appearances at Triple-A Indianapolis. He'll provide an extra option on the left side of the infield while the A's deal with injuries to Jacob Wilson (shoulder) and Max Muncy (hand).

Cardinals' JJ Wetherholt: Sitting down Saturday
Wetherholt isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Royals.

Giants' Luis Arraez: Homers in four-hit effort
Arraez went 4-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Athletics.
Arraez has three multi-hit efforts over his last five games. He also picked up a pair of extra-base hits Friday, doing so for the first time since he had a pair of doubles May 4 versus the Padres.
