Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Goes deep twice Wednesday
Hoerner went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four total RBI in Wednesday's 9-6 loss to the Phillies.
This was an unexpected power surge, as Hoerner came into the contest with only five home runs all season through 147 games. The infielder went deep with two runners on in the fourth inning, and then added a solo shot in the sixth. It was the first multi-homer effort of the 27-year-old's career. While it was a pleasant surprise, fantasy managers should still expect more speed than power from Hoerner moving forward based on his MLB track record.

Brendan Rodgers 2B | BOS
Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Nursing hamstring injury
Rodgers is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals with a left hamstring injury, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
Rodgers missed a couple starts earlier this month with right hamstring tightness, but it's apparently an injury to his other hamstring that will keep him out of the lineup Wednesday for the second day in a row. For his part, Rodgers doesn't seem too concerned about the injury, as he said he would be available off the bench for an at-bat, if needed. Aaron Schunk will cover the keystone Wednesday in Rodgers' stead.

Kyle Farmer 3B | ATL
Twins' Kyle Farmer: Back on bench Wednesday
Farmer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins.
Farmer has served as a short-side platoon player for much of the season, but he was included in the lineup in four of the Twins' last five games, with two of those starts coming against right-handed pitching. He'll take a seat against Marlins righty Edward Cabrera on Wednesday, though Farmer's playing-time outlook still appears to have improved with Matt Wallner's (oblique) recent move to the injured list creating an open spot in the lineup.

Jonathan India 2B | KC
Reds' Jonathan India: Clears concussion protocol
India cleared concussion protocol Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
India was pulled from Tuesday's game after getting hit in the head by a pitch, and while he'll sit out of Wednesday's contest, the 27-year-old has officially avoided a concussion. He'll get another day to rest during Cincinnati's off day Thursday before potentially rejoining the lineup for Friday's series opener versus the Cubs.

Nicky Lopez 3B | CHC
White Sox's Nicky Lopez: Resting against lefty
Lopez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels.
The left-handed-hitting Lopez will bow out of the starting nine while the Angels send southpaw Jose Suarez to the bump. Jacob Amaya will spell Lopez at shortstop and bat ninth.
-
Brandon Drury 2B | KC
Angels' Brandon Drury: Losing playing time
Drury is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Drury finds himself on the bench for the fourth time in five games, with all four absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers. Jack Lopez has seemingly supplanted Drury as the Halos' top option at second base.

Spencer Horwitz 1B | PIT
Blue Jays' Spencer Horwitz: Getting night off
Horwitz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Red Sox.
Horwitz's streak of 11 consecutive starts will come to an end while he heads to the bench for the first time since Sept. 11. He'll cede his spot in the lineup to Tyler Heineman, who will handle catching duties while top backstop Alejandro Kirk gets a day off behind the plate but sticks in the starting nine as the Blue Jays' designated hitter.
-
Vaughn Grissom 2B | LAA
Red Sox's Vaughn Grissom: Sitting after three straight starts
Grissom is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Grissom had started each of the last three games at second base, going 4-for-11 with a walk, a double, two stolen bases, two RBI and one run. The Red Sox could rotate a number of players at second base down the stretch, including Ceddanne Rafaela. Though Rafaela made each of his last five starts in center field, he may end up seeing more time at the keystone at Grissom's expense now that Tyler O'Neill has been cleared to play the outfield Wednesday after recently being held out of the lineup or limited to designated-hitter duties due to a back issue. Rafaela will join Grissom on the bench Wednesday, however, as Enmanuel Valdez gets the nod at second base.
-
Adam Frazier 2B | LAA
Royals' Adam Frazier: On bench against lefty
Frazier is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals.
The lefty-hitting Frazier will take a seat for the third game in a row while the Royals face a third consecutive left-handed starting pitcher (DJ Herz). Frazier still looks to have a hold on a strong-side platoon role in right field, but Tommy Pham will occupy the position Wednesday.
-
Nick Yorke 2B | PIT
Pirates' Nick Yorke: Solidifying spot in everyday lineup
Yorke will start in right field and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Brewers.
After making each of his last three starts at second base, Yorke will shift to the outfield Wednesday while normal right fielder Bryan De La Cruz gets a day off. Yorke has now picked up eight starts in the Pirates' last nine games and has produced a .280/.296/.400 slash line with one home run and two steals since being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sept. 16. He should be in store for near-everyday playing time in the final week of the season.
