Gonzalez is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Toronto, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

Gonzalez had started three of the previous four tilts but will begin the series finale in Toronto on the bench. Nick Sogard will handle third base for the Red Sox on Wednesday.

India (head) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

India was lifted from Tuesday's 6-1 loss after being hit in the helmet by a pitch a couple innings after his final plate appearance of the night and is being evaluated under the concussion protocol. The Reds haven't confirmed that India has been diagnosed with a concussion, so while he'll step out of the lineup Wednesday, he can be considered day-to-day heading into the club's season-ending series with the Cubs this weekend. Santiago Espinal will check in for India at second base in the series finale in Cleveland.

Gelof went 1-for-3 with an RBI sacrifice fly, a stolen base and a run in a win over the Rangers on Tuesday.

Gelof snapped a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning with his sacrifice fly, which plated Shea Langeliers. He eventually scored the game-winning run on Jacob Wilson's walk-off single in the penultimate night game for the Athletics at Oakland Coliseum. The eventful night was an extension of a productive all-around month for Gelof despite some persistent contact issues, as he's generated a .278 average, .715 OPS, eight extra-base hits, seven RBI, five steals and nine runs across 84 September plate appearances.

Altuve is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Mariners, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Altuve will get a breather one day after the Astros wrapped up another division title. Shay Whitcomb will handle second base and bat seventh Wednesday.

Wisely went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer in Tuesday's win over the Diamondbacks.

Wisely went deep off Blake Walston in the third inning for the Giants' second three-run homer in the frame. The home run was Wisely's first since June 28 and his first extra-base hit since Aug. 31. He has just 10 hits in 30 games since the beginning of August and will look to find some sort of resurgence at the plate over the final five days of the season.

Lopez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the White Sox.

He took Prelander Berroa deep in the eighth inning, extending the Angels' lead to 2-0 before the team's bullpen fell apart. The long ball was the first of Lopez's career in 29 MLB games, and the 31-year-old journeyman has been on a nice little tear to close out the season, batting .417 (10-for-24) over his last nine games. He's settled into an everyday role at second base for the Halos, supplanting Brandon Drury.

Grissom went 3-for-4 with a walk, a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Tuesday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.

The 23-year-old is getting a shot at regular playing time over the final week of the season, and Grissom took advantage of the opportunity Tuesday. In four appearances since his return to the majors, including three straight starts at second base, he's gone 4-for-12 with one run, two RBI and both his steals on the year. Grissom has had a tough 2024 campaign, but he could still head into spring training next year as the favorite to start at the keystone.

India exited in the bottom of the seventh inning of Tuesday's game versus the Guardians and is in concussion protocol after being hit in the head by a pitch, Bally Sports Cincinnati reports.

India initially remained in the game after being beaned with a Tanner Bibee pitch in the fifth inning, but he was later removed. For what it's worth, India indicated after the contest that he expects to be fine, but he will be monitored closely. India went 0-for-1 with a walk before departing.

Marte started at second base and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a double in Tuesday's 11-0 loss to the Giants.

Marte was held out of Monday's starting lineup, as manager Torey Lovullo indicated the second baseman had been grinding and was in the "red zone." With four games left in the regular season and a playoff spot to be won, Marte is expected to be in the starting lineup every day.

Polanco went 4-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Astros.

Polanco continued his recent surge at the plate -- he's 10-for-21 (.476) with four RBI and three extra-base hits over his last five games. Unfortunately for the Mariners, Polanco was often stranded on base as the bottom third of the order went hitless. The second baseman has had a career-worst season with a .214/.295/.359 slash line over 115 contests, though he's added 16 homers, 45 RBI, 43 runs scored, four stolen bases and 11 doubles while seeing regular playing time when healthy.
