Mets' Jeff McNeil: Smacks game-winning homer

McNeil went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's extra-innings win over the White Sox.

He took Josh Osich deep in the 11th inning to break up a 2-2 tie. McNeil has moved back into the MLB lead in batting average, and his .336/.396/.513 slash line through 92 games with 11 homers and 46 RBI is highly impressive for a player in his first full big-league season.

    Braves' Ozzie Albies: Three-hit night

Albies went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a walk and two runs Tuesday in the Braves' 11-8 win over the Nationals.

Albies has looked good since replacing the injured Dansby Swanson (foot) as the Braves' No. 2 hitter a week ago. Through six games in that spot in the lineup, Albies has gone 7-for-26 with five extra-base hits (four doubles, one home run) and three walks. He'll start at second base and hit second again Wednesday in the series finale.

    Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Idle Wednesday

Marte is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees.

Marte, who went 0-for-5 in Tuesday's 4-2 win in the series opener, is likely just getting a routine breather after starting each of the Diamondbacks' last 26 games. Wilmer Flores will check in for Marte at second base while center fielder Jarrod Dyson fills the opening atop the lineup.

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Won't miss time

McNeil (lower leg) is starting in right field and leading off Tuesday against the White Sox.

McNeil left Sunday's matchup after being hit by a pitch on his right shin, though he'll be able to return to action for the series opener after benefitting from a scheduled off day Monday. He's slashing .336/.397/.507 with 10 homers and 44 RBI over 91 games this season.

Padres' Luis Urias: Blasts solo shot in win

Urias went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 8-1 win over the Orioles.

One of five Padres to leave the yard on the night, Urias' fourth-inning blast off David Hess ended an 0-for-23 hitless skid. Urias reached base later in the contest when he was hit in the lip by a Jimmy Yacabonis pitch, but he was able to remain in the game and noted afterward that he would be OK for Tuesday, per the Associated Press.

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Swats 23rd homer

Marte went 2-for-4 with a walk, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Monday's 11-6 loss to the Marlins.

The 25-year-old remains on fire to begin the second half. Marte is now slashing .373/.479/.678 in 16 games since the All-Star break with three homers, 12 RBI and 12 runs, and on the season he now has 23 home runs, 65 RBI and 70 runs -- all career highs.

  • Dodgers' Enrique Hernandez: Officially placed on IL

Hernandez (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.

As expected, Hernandez was placed on the IL ahead of Monday's series opener against the Rockies after an MRI on Friday revealed a sprained left hand. Josh Sborz was summoned from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move while Max Muncy figures to see the majority of time at second base in his absence.

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Dealing with shin bruise

McNeil was diagnosed with a bruised right shin after X-rays came back negative Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

McNeil was removed from Sunday's contest after being hit by a pitch, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury. The 27-year-old will have Monday's scheduled off day to aid in his recovery before potentially missing any game action.

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Exits after HBP

McNeil was hit by a pitch in the shin during the first inning Sunday and was removed from the game, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

McNeil stayed in to run the bases and came around to score, but he was lifted for pinch hitter Aaron Altherr later in the frame when the Mets batted around. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but McNeil will have Monday's scheduled off day to recover before potentially missing additional time.

Braves' Ozzie Albies: Clubs grand slam

Albies went 1-for-6 with a home run and four RBI in Saturday's 15-7 win over the Phillies.

The Braves were already leading 7-1 when Albies came to the plate with the bases juiced in the third inning, but he essentially put the game to bed with the grand slam. The 22-year-old is off to a slow start in the second half with a .237/.274/.390 slash line through 14 games.
