  • Blue Jays' Luis Urias: On base three times in loss

Urias went 2-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's loss to the Mets. Getting another start at second base and batting seventh, Urias was the only Blue Jay to have much success against Nolan McLean and the New York bullpen in a 3-0 loss. Urias is making a case for more consistent playing time, and over his first seven games for Toronto he's batting .400 (6-for-15) with a double, a homer and more walks (three) than strikeouts (two).

  • Blue Jays' Luis Urias: Goes yard in Jays debut

Urias went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-innings loss to the Astros. Starting at second base and batting seventh in his Blue Jays debut, Urias made an immediate impact when he took Peter Lambert deep in the fourth inning to get his new squad on the board. Urias had been posting big numbers for Triple-A Reno in the Diamondbacks' system to begin the season, but over the last three big-league campaigns, the 29-year-old infielder managed just a .213/.319/.337 slash line over 611 plate appearances while suiting up for four different teams. Urias has enough pop and positional versatility to find a role on the bench with Toronto, but he's unlikely to be a useful fantasy asset if he does receive consistent playing time.

  • Blue Jays' Luis Urias: Added to roster

The Blue Jays selected Urias' contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday. Urias was acquired via trade from the Diamondbacks over the weekend after putting up a .939 OPS in 27 games at Triple-A Reno. The 29-year-old will operate as a reserve infielder for the Blue Jays.

  • Diamondbacks' Luis Urias: Lands MiLB deal with Arizona

The Diamondbacks signed Urias to a minor-league contract Monday. The 28-year-old infielder appeared in 96 games for the Athletics last season and slashed .230/.315/.338 with eight home runs, 25 RBI, 27 runs scored, two stolen bases and a 31:45 BB:K across 330 trips to the plate. He was released in August and then latched on with the Brewers before spending the remainder of the 2025 season at Triple-A Nashville. Given his late signing, Urias won't be a candidate to join Arizona's Opening Day roster, but he could eventually get a look with the big club as a utility infielder.

  • Brewers' Luis Urias: Back with Brewers on MiLB deal

Urias agreed to a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Sunday, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports. Urias posted a .653 OPS over 96 games with the Athletics this season before being released Thursday. The veteran infielder has now found himself back in a familiar spot in Milwaukee, where he played three-plus campaigns from 2020 to 2023. Urias will begin his reunion with the Brewers organization at Triple-A Nashville.

  • Luis Urias: Let go by A's

Urias was released by the A's on Thursday. Urias was designated for assignment Monday and cleared waivers. He has a .653 OPS across 327 plate appearances in the majors this season, so it's reasonable to expect he'll find an opportunity elsewhere around the league.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Jettisoned by Athletics

The Athletics designated Urias for assignment Monday. Urias had seen his playing time diminish over the past week following infielder Jacob Wilson's return from the injured list. Since the All-Star break, Urias slashed just .197/.296/.246 with one home run and seven RBI in 71 plate appearances. His removal from the 40-man roster makes room for infielder Zack Gelof, whom the Athletics recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Moves into utility role

Urias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mariners. Urias will take a seat for the third time in four games and appears to have moved into a utility infield role in the wake of Jacob Wilson's recent return from the injured list. With Wilson taking back control of an everyday role at shortstop, the Athletics seem to be prioritizing Darell Hernaiz and Brett Harris over Urias at second and third base, respectively.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Sitting Friday

Urias is not in the Athletics' starting lineup against the Mariners on Friday. Urias will be on the bench for a second straight game while Darell Hernaiz starts at second base and bats seventh. Urias hasn't been that productive at the plate since the All-Star break, posting a .546 OPS with five runs, one homer and six RBI across 66 plate appearances.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Resting Thursday

Urias is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Twins. He'll give way to Max Schuemann at second base for the series finale after occupying the keystone in each of the previous three contests. Urias has received steady playing time in August but hasn't provided much production, hitting just .233 with no home runs or steals, four RBI and two runs through 13 games this month.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Taking seat Saturday

Urias is absent from the starting lineup against the Angels on Saturday. Urias is in a rut at the plate, going 0-for-9 over his past four games. He'll get a chance to reset Saturday while Max Schuemann gets a start at second base.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Sitting after three straight starts

Urias is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles. Urias has moved past a back issue and got the start at second base in the prior three games while going 4-for-11 with a walk, two RBI and two runs. He'll give way to Max Schuemann at the keystone Sunday, but Urias should have a fairly clear path to playing time while Max Muncy (hand) and Jacob Wilson (forearm) are on the shelf.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Out again Wednesday

Urias (back) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals. Urias hasn't played since exited Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Diamondbacks with lower-back spasms and is considered day-to-day. Max Schuemann will get another start at second base in Urias' stead.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Out with back issue

Urias (back) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Nationals. Urias had to exit Sunday's contest against the Diamondbacks with lower-back spasms and isn't ready to play even after his team was idle Monday. Max Schuemann will handle second base, and Gio Urshela will be at third base for the Athletics.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Resting Wednesday

Urias isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners. Urias will sit down for Wednesday's series finale after going 1-for-6 with a run scored over the Athletics' last two games against Seattle. Max Schuemann will shift to second base to cover for Urias while Darell Hernaiz starts at shortstop.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Back from injured list

The Athletics reinstated Urias (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list Sunday. The veteran infielder landed on the shelf in early July due to a hamstring strain, but he'll rejoin the active roster after missing the minimum amount of time. Urias is on the bench for Sunday's matchup with the Blue Jays, but he'll vie with Max Muncy for regular starts at second base after Zack Gelof was demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Lands on injured list

The Athletics placed Urias on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right hamstring strain, retroactive to Thursday. Urias' hamstring forced him to make an early exit from Wednesday's game, and he'll spend at least 10 days on the injured list now that he's been officially diagnosed with a strain. Zack Gelof (ribs) was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move, which means Urias likely won't benefit from regular playing time once he's healthy.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Exits early with hamstring issue

Urias went 0-for-2 before being removed in the bottom of the fourth inning of Wednesday's 6-5 loss to the Rays due to right hamstring soreness, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Per Gallegos, manager Mark Kotsay said after the game that he doesn't think Urias' hamstring issue is significant enough to warrant a stay on the injured list, but the Athletics will have a better feel for the infielder's status after evaluating him during Thursday's off day. Even if he's able to quickly move past the hamstring injury, Urias' time as an everyday player could soon be over. The Athletics are expected to get second baseman Zack Gelof (ribs) back from the 60-day IL this weekend, and Miguel Andujar (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday and could soon be ready to return from the 10-day IL to reclaim a regular role at third base.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Idle Friday

Urias isn't part of the starting nine for Friday's game against the Yankees. Urias will get the night off Friday after making nine consecutive starts at second base. In his place, Max Schuemann will bat ninth and play the keystone.

  • Athletics' Luis Urias: Absent from lineup

Urias is not in the Athletics' starting lineup against the Astros on Monday. Urias will begin Monday's game on the bench while Max Schuemann starts at the keystone and bats ninth. Urias has reached base safely in nine consecutive games, and over that span he has gone 8-for-31 (.258) with one steal, five runs scored, one home run and two RBI.
