Cronenworth went 3-for-5 with one RBI in Tuesday's 9-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

All three hits were singles. Cronenworth has hit pretty well since the All-Star break, going 17-for-62 (.274) over his last 16 games, though he has just two extra-base hits and five RBI in that span. For the season, the infielder is batting .220 with a .595 OPS, three home runs, 17 RBI, 26 runs scored, five doubles and five stolen bases over 233 plate appearances. The Padres kept their trade-deadline shopping to the pitching side of the roster, so Cronenworth should continue to see steady time at second base as long as his bat doesn't go cold.

Castro went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-7 extra-innings loss to the Rays.

This was Castro's career-high 13th homer of the season. The utility man has surged to the mark with four long balls over his last seven games, though this was his first one in that span that wasn't a solo shot. Castro is now hitting .264 with a .760 OPS, 48 RBI, 52 runs scored, seven stolen bases, 15 doubles and one triple over 97 contests in his first year with the Rockies.

Albies went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Marlins.

Albies opened the scoring in the second inning, taking Ryan Gusto deep on the first pitch he saw for his 19th home run of the season. The veteran second baseman has now hit safely in six consecutive games. Since the All-Star break, he's batting .243 with five home runs and 12 RBI across 18 games. Through 488 plate appearances this season, Albies owns a .263/.311/.440 slash line.

Edwards is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.

Edwards' absence ends a run of 26 straight starts, during which he struggled to a .237/.321/.268 slash line with just two extra-base hits and five stolen bases. Javier Sanoja is handling the keystone Tuesday for Miami, which opens up the hot corner for Leo Jimenez.

The Guardians traded Brito to the Reds on Monday in exchange for cash.

The Guardians designated Brito for assignment earlier in the day, but the Reds were willing to use a 40-man roster spot on Brito for the time being. More of a bat-first prospect than the typical Guardians middle infielder, Brito had been passed over in Cleveland, so a change of scenery is welcome. The 24-year-old switch hitter slashed .237/.351/.394 with nine home runs and seven steals in 83 games at Triple-A with the Guardians organization.

Edman went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in a loss to the Cubs on Monday.

Edman capped a torrid beginning to the contest by Los Angeles, slamming a three-run homer to left field on just the fifth pitch by opposing starter Matthew Boyd. Despite the fast start, the Dodgers ultimately suffered their fourth straight defeat. For Edman, the long ball was big because is snapped a four-game hitless stretch at the plate during which he had gone 0-for-14. Even with that mini slump, the utility man has posted a .300/.378/.458 slash line with three homers, 20 runs, 21 RBI and three stolen bases through 37 contests.

Basabe (forearm) will start at second base and bat seventh in Monday's game versus the Rangers.

Basabe was lifted from Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Padres after being hit on the left forearm by a pitch, but he's back in the lineup a day later. He'll be making his third consecutive start and has gone 3-for-9 with a pair of home runs early on in his stint with the Giants. With the Giants trading away Luis Arraez and Heliot Ramos ahead of Monday's deadline, Basabe could get the chance to play on at least a semi-regular basis in the short term.

The Giants acquired Mayer (forearm) from the Red Sox on Monday in exchange for left-hander Erik Miller and outfielder Carlos Gutierrez.

The Red Sox are selling low on Mayer, who has slashed just .223/.278/.346 in his first 364 plate appearances at the major-league level. He's just 23 years old and was considered an elite prospect not long ago, making Mayer a nice get for the Giants. On the shelf since June 26 due to a stress reaction in his left forearm, Mayer has resumed taking part in fielding drills and hitting off a tee and facing soft-toss pitching, but he remains without a timetable to return to game action. He could take over as San Francisco's everyday second baseman once he's back to full health.

Arraez will travel to Philadelphia on Monday and is expected to be formally activated by the Phillies ahead of Tuesday's game against the Nationals, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

The Phillies acquired Arraez and right-hander Caleb Kilian from the Giants earlier Monday, sending back minor-league right-handers Ramon Marquez and Marty Gair to San Francisco in the deal. A four-time All-Star and three-time batting champion, Arraez is expected to settle into an everyday role at second base upon joining the team, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic. Bryson Stott has been serving as the Phillies' primary option at the keystone this season, but he's likely to move to third base to accommodate Arraez. Meanwhile, Alec Bohm is expected to shift across the diamond to first base, which would shift Bryce Harper into a regular role in right field for the first time since April 2022.

Nunez went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's loss to Atlanta.

His line in the box score wasn't overly impressive, but Nunez's theft after a second-inning single was his 40th of the season, making him the first player in the majors this season to reach that mark. The 25-year-old switch hitter is running away with the stolen-base crown, as he's 10 steals clear of second-place Jazz Chisholm and Bobby Witt (back). On the year, Nunez has managed a .240/.321/.281 slash line with one homer, 31 RBI and 46 runs in 104 contests.
