Gorman went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs in a 7-4 loss to the Astros on Monday.

Gorman hit solo home runs off Justin Verlander in the first and fifth innings and added a walk in the third. Gorman has been on an absolute binge in his past 10 games, tallying five multi-hit efforts, six home runs and 12 RBI since May 21. On the season, Gorman is now slashing .230/.318/.494 and leads all second basemen in home runs with 13.

Estrada (thumb) is out of the lineup for Monday's game against Arizona, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Estrada will miss a third consecutive game after jamming his thumb Friday against the Mets. Brett Wisely will start at second base Monday and bat in the leadoff spot against Diamondbacks right-hander Ryne Nelson.

Major League Baseball is currently investigating Marcano (knee) for a violation of the sport's gambling policy, which could result in a lifetime ban, Jared Diamond and Lindsey Adler of The Wall Street Journal Report report.

According to the report, four other minor-league players are under investigation along with Marcano, a 24-year-old infielder who has been on the Padres' 10-day injured list all season while he completes his recovery from a torn ACL. Per Jeff Passan of ESPN.com, while MLB's investigation isn't yet complete, a penalty for Marcano could be imposed in the coming days. Marcano has seen big-league action in each of the previous three seasons as a member of the Padres and Pirates, slashing .217/.269/.320 with five home runs and seven stolen bases across 447 career plate appearances.

The Phillies placed Clemens on the 10-day injured list Monday with lower-back spasms, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Clemens had been set to return to action Sunday against the Cardinals before being scratched from the lineup. The Phillies have ultimately opted to give him extra time to heal from the back injury. He should have a chance to return from the IL next week when first eligible.

McNeil is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals.

The lefty-hitting McNeil is being withheld from the lineup for Mets' second straight matchup with a left-hander (MacKenzie Gore), as he had previously taken a seat when New York opposed Arizona southpaw Jordan Montgomery on Monday. McNeil could be moving into the strong side of a platoon at second base with the righty-hitting Jose Iglesias, who will draw another start.

Vargas went 2-for-4 with a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's win over the Guardians.

Getting another start at shortstop in place of CJ Abrams (shoulder) and batting ninth, Vargas swiped his fifth bag of the season in a productive afternoon. Abrams could be back in the lineup as soon as Monday against the Mets, bumping Vargas back to the bench, but the veteran utility player has been effective when called upon this season, slashing .288/.368/.385 through 120 plate appearances.

Stott went 1-for-4 with two RBI, two stolen bases and one walk in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Cardinals.

Stott has had trouble getting on base lately -- he's 5-for-44 (.114) with two walks over his last 12 games -- but he's managed to steal four bases in that span. He played a more noticeable role Sunday with a two-run single to tie the game at 4-4 in the fifth inning. Those RBI were his first since May 21. The infielder is slashing .239/.340/.372 with 16 steals, five home runs, 32 RBI and 31 runs scored over 55 contests this season.

Gorman went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a walk in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

Gorman opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the first inning and also provided the Cardinals with their winning run by adding an RBI single in the 10th. This was his fourth multi-hit effort over the last nine games, a span in which he's gone 11-for-32 (.344) with four homers and 10 RBI. He's up to a .223/.310/.457 slash line, 11 long balls, 28 RBI, 25 runs scored and two stolen bases through 51 contests. Gorman has been a near-everyday player lately, though the Cardinals called up Jose Fermin on Friday for infield depth, which could lead to Gorman sitting out against some southpaws moving forward.

Marte went 3-for-3 with two home runs, a double and a walk Sunday against the Mets, finishing with three RBI and two runs scored.

Marte got the scoring going in the top of the first with a leadoff homer against Jose Quintana. He saved his best for last though, launching a decisive two-run shot in the ninth to propel Arizona to a 5-4 victory. The multi-HR performance was Marte's first of the season and the seventh of his career. The 30-year-old is off to a strong start, slashing .270/.330/.502 with 12 home runs, 32 RBI and 39 runs scored in 58 games.

Clemens was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Cardinals due to back spasms, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Clemens was set to start at second base and bat seventh against St. Louis, but he'll now take a seat due to his ailing back. Whit Merrifield will replace him in the lineup.
