  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Not in Friday's lineup

Marte is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Philadelphia.

Marte served as the Diamondbacks' designated hitter Thursday and is now out of their lineup altogether, although there's no indication at this point that this is anything other than a routine day off. Blaze Alexander is handling second base Friday.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Sitting again versus lefty

McNeil is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.

McNeil has been out of the lineup for two straight games and seven times over the last eight occasions that the Mets have faced a left-hander, and he's pretty clearly in a platoon at second base with Jose Iglesias. Iglesias and his teammates will try to solve southpaw Shota Imanaga on Friday.

  • Adael Amador SS | COL

Rockies' Adael Amador: Suffers oblique strain

Manager Bud Black said Amador was removed from Thursday's game against the Dodgers due to a "mild oblique strain," Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Amador appeared to be wincing after his at-bat in the seventh inning and was replaced in the field before the eighth frame. The 21-year-old suffered a similar injury earlier in the season while with Double-A Hartford, and it remains to be seen whether he'll require a trip to the injured list.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | BAL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Taking seat Thursday

Estrada is absent from the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cardinals.

The Giants are giving Brett Wisely a start at second base and Nick Ahmed will be his double-play partner at shortstop. It seems to be a routine day off for Estrada, who had started each of the previous 14 contests.

  • Gavin Lux SS | TB

Dodgers' Gavin Lux: Getting day off versus lefty

Lux is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

The lefty-hitting Lux will sit for the second time in the four-game series while the Rockies send another southpaw (Ty Blach) to the bump. Chris Taylor will fill in for Lux at second base.

  • Rockies' Brendan Rodgers: Starting rehab assignment

Rodgers (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday, MLB.com reports.

Rodgers participated in batting practice drills Tuesday and Wednesday before heading out for game action. Rockies manager Bud Black said that Rodgers is expected to require only two rehab games with Albuquerque, so the second baseman could be cleared to return from the 10-day injured list ahead of Sunday's series finale versus the Nationals.

  • Nolan Gorman 2B | STL

    Cardinals' Nolan Gorman: Homers Wednesday

Gorman went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Marlins.

Gorman led off the second inning with a 436-foot blast off Yonny Chirinos, cutting St. Louis' deficit to 2-1. It's the first homer in seven games for Gorman, who'd gone just 1-for-28 in that span. Overall, the 24-year-old second baseman is slashing .202/.278/.437 with 16 homers, 34 RBI, 31 runs scored and three steals across 67 games this year.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Out against left-hander

McNeil is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers.

With Texas starting southpaw Andrew Heaney, the left-handed-hitting McNeil will take a seat. Jose Iglesias will handle second base as the Mets seek their eighth win in a row.

  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Phillies' Kody Clemens: Set for rehab assignment

Clemens (back) will begin a rehab assignment later this week, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Gelb notes that Clemens is set to receive regular reps in left field while on his rehab assignment. It's a position he's played a little bit both in the majors and minors, and it now looks like his best path to playing time in the majors with Brandon Marsh slated to see most of his starts in center field following Johan Rojas' demotion to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Clemens has been out since early June with lower-back spasms.

  • Alika Williams SS | PIT

Pirates' Alika Williams: Activated and optioned

The Pirates reinstated Williams (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Indianapolis, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Pittsburgh will keep Jared Triolo on hand as its lone reserve infielder while Williams reports to the Triple-A club now that he's made a full recovery from the right wrist sprain that initially sent him to the IL on June 2. Williams had already been in the midst of a rehab assignment with Indianapolis, going 3-for-11 at the plate over three games.
