Brewers' Rowdy Tellez: Not starting Friday

Tellez isn't starting Friday's game against the Phillies.

Tellez has started against just one left-handed pitcher this season, and he'll take a seat with southpaw Ranger Suarez on the mound for Philadelphia on Friday. Keston Hiura will start at first base and bat fifth.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Drives in two runs

Naylor went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 6-3 win over the White Sox.

Naylor had an RBI single in the fifth inning and an RBI double in the seventh. He came around to score on an Andres Gimenez sacrifice fly in his latter trip aboard. Naylor has multiple hits in three of his four games this season, logging three RBI and a pair of runs scored. He has a couple of paths to playing time in right field and at first base -- the latter's been a bit more likely of late with Bobby Bradley scuffling and Owen Miller on the COVID-19 injured list.

  • Nate Lowe DH | CIN

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Extends hit streak

Lowe went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Thursday's 8-6 win over Seattle.

Lowe extended his hitting streak to seven games, and he has hit safely in 11 of 12 games to open the season. He also knocked in an insurance run in the ninth inning. The first baseman is slashing .396/.431/.458 with seven RBI and three extra-base hits.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Posts big offensive effort in loss

France went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in a loss to the Rangers on Thursday.

France kicked off a big first inning for Seattle with a two-run blast to left field, and he collected two more hits along the way. This was his fourth multi-hit effort over his past five games. He is slashing .474/.524/.842 with two homers and six RBI over that stretch.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Nearing rehab assignment

Kirilloff (wrist) is likely to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul early next week, Megan Ryan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

All signs have been pointing to a smooth recovery for Kirilloff, who received a cortisone shot to soothe inflammation in his wrist. He is expected to return within a week, lining him up for a few rehab games with Triple-A St. Paul prior to being activated from the injured list.

  • Kole Calhoun 1B | CLE

Rangers' Kole Calhoun: Sits against southpaw

Calhoun isn't starting Thursday's game against the Mariners.

Left-hander Marco Gonzales is on the mound for Seattle on Thursday, so Calhoun will retreat to the bench for the third time in the last four games. Adolis Garcia will shift to right field while Eli White starts in center.

  • Josh Bell DH | MIN

    Nationals' Josh Bell: Starting Thursday

Bell (knee) is starting Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Bell exited Wednesday's loss to Arizona due to a knee injury, but he underwent an MRI that came back clean and tested the issue ahead of Thursday's matchup. He'll ultimately be able to start at first base and bat cleanup against Arizona. The 29-year-old is hitting .354/.456/.521 with two homers, 11 RBI and 10 runs this season.

Nationals' Josh Bell: MRI comes back clean

Bell (knee) underwent an MRI on Thursday that came back clean, Matt Weyrich of NBC Sports Washington reports.

Bell felt his knee tighten up while playing first base in Wednesday's loss to Arizona, and he's testing his injury ahead of Thursday's series finale. Even if he's held out Thursday, he should be considered day-to-day following the encouraging MRI results.

  • Alex Kirilloff LF | MIN

Twins' Alex Kirilloff: Could return next week

Kiriloff (wrist) is feeling optimistic following his cortisone shot and believes he can be back from the injured list in about a week, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Kiriloff has already missed over a week with wrist inflammation, but it looks like he's trending in the right direction in his recovery. The cortisone injection seems to have done its job, as he resumed swinging Wednesday and believes he should be ready to return sometime soon.

  • Cardinals' Paul Goldschmidt: Notches steal

Goldschmidt went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Marlins.

Goldschmidt has only hit safely in five of his 10 games this season. He's posted a shaky .162/.295/.216 slash line with an RBI, seven runs scored, a pair of stolen bases and two doubles through 44 plate appearances. He tore the cover off the ball in spring training, so there's little reason to be concerned about Goldschmidt's long-term numbers -- he's never hit lower than .250 in any season of his career, and that came in his rookie year.
