Mervis is not in the starting lineup Monday versus the Padres.

Mervis will remain on the bench for a second game in a row as the Cubs face left-hander Blake Snell on Monday. Righty bat Trey Mancini will start at first base and bat seventh in the series finale with San Diego.

Clemens is not in the starting lineup Monday versus Detroit, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Clemens will head to the bench after he went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a strikeout in Sunday's 11-3 win over Washington. Drew Ellis will take over at first base while Edmundo Sosa will enter the lineup at third base and bat eighth in the series opener with the Tigers.

Pasquantino is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Miami.

After going 0-for-10 with two walks in the Royals' weekend series with the Rockies, Pasquantino will get a mental day off in the series opener with the Marlins. Nick Pratto will pick up the start at first base, while shortstop Bobby Witt gets a day out of the field and serves as the Royals' designated hitter.

Gurriel will start at first base and bat fifth in Monday's game against the Royals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

After producing six hits in the Marlins' weekend series with the Athletics, Gurriel will be rewarded Monday with his 13th consecutive start. Though Garrett Cooper is in the lineup as Miami's designated hitter in place of a resting Jorge Soler, Gurriel appears to have overtaken the slumping Cooper as Miami's primary first baseman.

Casas is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rays.

The lefty-hitting Casas will take a seat with ace southpaw Shane McClanahan on the bump for Tampa Bay. Justin Turner will step in at first base in place of Casas, who is hitting .148 (but getting on base at a .361 clip) in 36 plate appearances versus southpaws in 2023.

Guerrero went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Sunday's victory over the Mets.

Guerrero extended the Jays' lead to 3-0 in the third inning with a homer off Kodai Senga, his first since May 23. Guerrero has hit safely in his last four games while going 8-for-24 (.333) with a .907 OPS in his previous six contests. The 24-year-old first baseman is having another strong season, slashing .289/.356/.467 with nine homers, 37 RBI and three stolen bases.

Gurriel went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Sunday's 7-5 victory over the Athletics.

Gurriel's leadoff triple in the fourth inning was his third three-bagger this year, setting a new career high in his age-39 season. He's gone 6-for-13 in his last three games following an 0-for-13 slump. Gurriel's now slashing .291/.350/.440 with three homers, 15 runs scored, 13 RBI and three stolen bases through 157 at-bats in his first season with Miami.

Cooper went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Athletics.

Cooper tied the game 5-5 with a three-run shot off Paul Blackburn in the fifth inning -- his sixth home run of the year and his third in eight games. Sunday's two-hit performance was the first multi-hit game for the 32-year-old since May 14. He'd gone just 8-for-53 (.151) in his previous 14 contests. Cooper's now slashing .242/.278/.412 with 23 RBI through 162 plate appearances this season.

Alonso went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays.

Alonso cut the Mets' deficit to 4-3 in the sixth inning with a line-drive homer off Nate Pearson. It's Alonso's 21st long ball of the season, extending his league lead. The power-hitting first baseman had been struggling coming into Sunday's contest, going 2-for-19 (.105) with a .255 OPS in his last five games. Alonso is now slashing .231/.324/.538 with 47 RBI in 256 plate appearances this season.

Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the White Sox.

Torkelson's blast off Michael Kopech in the fourth inning opened the scoring, but it was all the Tigers could muster in the contest. This was Torkelson's first homer in 14 games, a span in which he's gone just 11-for-50 (.220) with three doubles and four RBI. The first baseman is up to five homers, 26 RBI, 23 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .234/.315/.368 slash line over 56 contests overall. Despite the lackluster numbers, the Tigers seem content with letting the 23-year-old learn on the job in another rebuilding year.
