Padres' Ty France: Pops first big-league homer

France went 2-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to the Mets.

He took Noah Syndergaard deep in the fourth inning for his first career big-league homer. France is now slashing .241/.324/.448 through 12 games since his promotion, a performance that may not be good enough to keep him in the majors once Fernando Tatis Jr. (hamstring) returns from the IL at the end of the week.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Smacks 11th homer

Hoskins went 4-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and three runs scored Tuesday against the Cardinals.

Hoskins had already had a productive night by doubling and scoring two runs when he stepped to the plate in the ninth inning. However, he capped off his performance by lifting his 11th home run of the season over the left-field fence to give the Phillies an 11-1 lead. Hoskins continues to swing a hot bat, pairing a .302/.425/.651 line with elite power and counting stat production in the early going.

  • Donovan Solano 1B | TEX

Giants' Donovan Solano: Set for promotion

The Giants plan to call up Solano from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of Tuesday's game against the Rockies, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Along with Solano, the Giants are planning on calling outfielder Mac Williamson up from Sacramento prior to the three-game series in Colorado. Neither Solano nor Williamson possess spots on the 40-man roster, so the Giants will have to remove two players from the roster to facilitate their promotions. The 31-year-old Solano has seen time at second base, third base and shortstop this season and is hitting .322/.392/.437 across 97 plate appearances in the Pacific Coast League. He'll likely serve as a utility man while he's up with the Giants.

  • Braves' Freddie Freeman: Clubs seventh homer

Freeman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 5-3 loss to the Dodgers.

He took Walker Buehler deep in the sixth inning for his seventh homer of the year. Freeman has been scuffling a little at the plate recently, going 10-for-30 (.256) over the last 10 games, but he's still gone yard four times in that stretch and remains on pace for another outstanding campaign.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: Hits 200th career home run

Rizzo went 2-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Monday's 6-5 loss to the Marlins.

Rizzo wasted no time in hitting his ninth home run of the season, as he connected off Miami starter Sandy Alcantara in the first inning with a runner on. The blast also gave Rizzo 200 for his career, 199 of which have come since being traded to the Cubs in 2012. The 29-year-old has hit 30 or more home runs four times in the previous five seasons, with the 25 he launched in 2018 representing a low water mark in that span.

  • Garrett Cooper 1B | ATL

Marlins' Garrett Cooper: Starts hitting progression

Cooper (hand) started a hitting progression Monday, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Cooper landed on the injured list over the weekend due to a left hand contusion, though the fact that he's already been cleared to resume hitting suggests his stay on the shelf may not be an extended one. The 28-year-old will be eligible to return May 11, should he prove ready.

  • Rhys Hoskins 1B | CLE

Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Extends hitting streak

Hoskins went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBI and two walks Sunday against the Nationals.

Hoskins tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning on a double to left field, giving the Phillies a 7-1 lead, which stuck as the final score. He's now hit safely in eight straight contests, slugging three homers and driving in 11 runs over that stretch.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Padres' Ty France: Benched after five straight starts

France is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

France had started each of the Padres' last five games at third base. Greg Garcia will get a turn at the hot corner in the series finale, but France looks like he'll be the top option at the position while Manny Machado fills in at shortstop for the injured Fernando Tatis Jr. (hamstring).

  • Diamondbacks' Wilmer Flores: Benched in series finale

Flores is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.

Flores capitalized on his first two starts at Coors Field this weekend, going a combined 4-for-9 with a pair of doubles, three RBI and a run. With a tough righty (German Marquez) on the hill in the series finale, Flores will head to the bench in favor of Ildemaro Vargas.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Dodgers' Matt Beaty: Optioned to Triple-A

Beaty has been sent to Triple-A Oklahoma City, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

The Dodgers signed Travis d'Arnaud Sunday, so Beaty was sent down to clear a roster spot. The 26-year-old recorded three at-bats with the big club following his April 30 promotion, getting hits in two of them.
