Phillies' Rhys Hoskins: Smashes solo shot in Game 2
Hoskins went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in an 8-5 loss to the Padres on Wednesday afternoon in Game 2 of the NLCS.
Hoskins took Padres reliever Robert Suarez deep to left with a 409-foot blast in the top of the eighth inning, but the Phillies were unable to rally in Game 2. The 29-year-old first baseman's blast was his second postseason homer, although he's still just 5-for-34 with one walk and 11 strikeouts during Philadelphia's current playoff run. Hoskins is playing in the first postseason of his six-year career, it will be interesting to see if he can adjust to the playoff intensity as the NLCS progresses.

Padres' Josh Bell: Not starting Game 4
Bell will sit for Game 4 of the NLDS against the Dodgers on Saturday.
Bell hit just .192/.316/.271 with three home runs in 53 games following his move to San Diego at the deadline. He does have one homer this postseason but has just three total hits in 20 trips to the plate to go with seven strikeouts. Brandon Drury will be the designated hitter Saturday.

Bell isn't starting Game 2 of the NLDS against the Dodgers on Wednesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Bell is on the bench for a second consecutive game to begin the NLDS after he went 3-for-13 with two RBI during the NL Wild Card Series against the Mets. Brandon Drury will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup once again.

After going 3-for-13 with two RBI in the NL Wild Card Series against the Mets, Bell will get a day off Tuesday. Brandon Drury will serve as the Padres' designated hitter instead and bat fourth.

Phillies' Darick Hall: Not on wild-card roster
Hall was left off the Phillies' roster for the NL Wild Card Series against the Cardinals on Friday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Hall was called up by Philadelphia on Sept. 30 but won't be on the active roster for the start of the playoffs. The 27-year-old had a .250/.282/.522 slash line with nine home runs and 16 RBI in 42 games this year and could be in the mix for a roster spot later in the postseason should the Phillies advance.

Rockies' Elehuris Montero: Ends season in slump
Montero went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers.
Montero ended his season with a hitless performance and batted only .150 across his last 12 games. He made his big-league debut in 2022 and maintained a solid .199 ISO, but he also had a .233/.270/.432 line thanks to a 32.4 percent strikeout rate. Montero will be a candidate to earn playing time at the corner infield spots and designated hitter to begin the 2023 campaign.

Rockies' Michael Toglia: Ends season with four strikeouts
Toglia went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts Wednesday against the Dodgers.
Toglia ended his season on a sour note, though he had collected at least one hit in his three prior games. He ended his rookie season with a .216/.275/.378 line across 120 plate appearances, and he had a concerning 36.7 percent strikeout rate.

Diamondbacks' Christian Walker: Three hits during victory
Walker went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over the Brewers.
Walker opened the scoring in the fourth inning with an RBI single off lefty Aaron Ashby. The first baseman finished the season on a positive note, turning in a .367 average over 30 at-bats across his final seven games. The 31-year-old had a resurgent year with a .242/.327/.477 slash line, 36 home runs, 94 RBI and 84 runs in 160 contests.

Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Concludes campaign with 100 RBI
Freeman went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two total RBI in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Rockies.
Freeman came into the game needing four hits to reach 200 on the campaign, and he fell just short by going 3-for-4. Nonetheless, he reached the 100 RBI mark by knocking in a pair of runs, one of which came on his 21st homer of the campaign. Freeman led the majors in hits (199) and doubles (47) in his first season in Los Angeles and finished second to Jeff McNeil with a .325 batting average.

Braves' Matt Olson: Hits homer, robbed of another
Olson went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run, an additional run and a double in Wednesday's loss to Miami.
Olson launched a deep shot to right field in the fourth inning, but Marlins outfielder Peyton Burdick made a great play to bring back what looked to be a home run. Undeterred, Olson responded with a double in his next at-bat before launching a two-run homer in the seventh. In his first season in Atlanta, the first baseman finished with a .240/.325/.477 slash line, 34 long balls, 103 RBI and 86 runs. He's hit at least 34 homers in three of the past four seasons, with the exception being the significantly shortened 2020 campaign.
