Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Receives cortisone injection
Vaughn (hand) has received a cortisone injection in the area of his right wrist, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Vaughn landed on the 10-day injured list Thursday after missing five games with a bruised right hand, and he's now received a cortisone shot to address the swelling. The 24-year-old is eligible to be activated May 12, though it remains unclear if he'll be ready to return at that point. Adam Engel should continue to see more playing time in Vaughn's absence, though he's not in the lineup Friday.

Spencer Torkelson 1B | DET
Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Resting Friday
Torkelson is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Astros.
Torkelson sits for just the third time this season. He's in a bit of a slump, going 1-for-23 at the plate across his last seven games. Harold Castro will be the first baseman Friday.

Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW
Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Starts against RHP
Dalbec started at first base and went 1-for-4 in Thursday's 8-0 loss to the Angels.
Dalbec was recently demoted to a platoon role at first base, sitting against right-handers while Franchy Cordero mans the position, but Cordero was needed in the outfield to help cover for the ailing Enrique Hernandez (illness). As a result, Dalbec was in the lineup against the Angels' Shohei Ohtani, and his second-inning single snapped an 0-for-16 run. Either against righties (.462 OPS) or lefties (.349), Dalbec has not been good so far in 2022.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 1B | TOR
Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero: Slugs seventh homer
Guerrero went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two runs scored Thursday against the Guardians.
Guerrero took Aaron Civale yard in the first inning to record his seventh home run of the season. He has gone yard only twice in his last 18 starts, and he has just five extra-base hits in that span. Despite the slow stretch, Guerrero still has an impressive .290/.364/.559 line on the season to go along with 14 runs scored and 19 RBI across 107 plate appearances.

Ryan Mountcastle 1B | BAL
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Two solo blasts
Mountcastle went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs in a 5-3 win Thursday over Minnesota.
Mountcastle got the scoring started with his solo homer in the second inning and gave Baltimore an insurance run with his eighth-inning shot. After a slow start, he appears to be putting it together with a .296/.321/.667 batting line and three home runs in his last seven games. The 25-year-old was dropped to fifth in the Orioles' lineup Wednesday and has responded with back-to-back multi-hit games.

Nick Pratto 1B | TEX
Royals' Nick Pratto: Lands on injured list
Pratto (undisclosed) was placed on the 7-day injured list by Triple-A Omaha on Thursday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
There was no specific reason reported for Pratto landing on the injured list, though he was hit in the head by a pitch Wednesday and immediately removed from the game. The timing of the incident is unfortunate, as Pratto was in the midst of a four-game hitting streak while going for 8-for-16 with a double and two home runs. Assuming the injury isn't a long-term concern, Pratto should have the chance to make his big-league debut this season.

Gabriel Arias 3B | CLE
Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Gets surgery for broken hand
Arias underwent surgery Thursday on his fractured right and is expected to be sidelined for 6-to-8 weeks, Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
Arias previously made his MLB debut with the Guardians on April 20, going 1-for-8 with an RBI and two runs scored between a pair of doubleheader games against the White Sox before being sent down to Triple-A Columbus a day later. He'll likely remain on Columbus' 7-day injured list through late June while he recovers from surgery, making it unlikely he returns to the big leagues until the second half of the season.

Andrew Vaughn 1B | MIL
White Sox's Andrew Vaughn: Lands on injured list
Vaughn was placed on the injured list with a bruised right hand Thursday.
Vaughn hasn't played since last Friday after getting hit in the hand by a pitch, but his injured list assignment can only be backdated by three days. He'll now miss at least one more week. AJ Pollock should continue to start in left field in his absence, with Gavin Sheets and Adam Engel splitting time in right field. Danny Mendick was activated to take his place on the roster.

Kyle Manzardo 1B | CLE
Rays' Kyle Manzardo: Out with undisclosed injury
Manzardo is on the 7-day injured list at High-A Bowling Green with an undisclosed injury.
Through five games, it seemed like Manzardo was primed to be a big breakout prospect, as he had six hits (including three doubles), eight walks and three strikeouts. He last played April 15, and it's unclear how much longer he will be sidelined.

Bobby Dalbec 1B | CHW
Red Sox's Bobby Dalbec: Returns to starting lineup
Dalbec went 0-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored in Wednesday's 10-5 extra-inning loss to the Angels.
With lefty Reid Detmers on the bump for the Angels, Dalbec returned to the starting lineup but watched his batting average dip to a season-low .141. The 26-year-old corner infielder will continue to platoon with Franchy Cordero at first base, but prospect Triston Casas is nipping at his heels at Triple-A Worcester.
