Guardians' Josh Naylor: Placed on 10-day IL

Naylor was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Aug. 1, with right side tightness, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Naylor has been out since Monday because of the issue and will now miss at least another seven days. The 26-year-old has a strong .306/.346/.500 slash line with 15 homers, 79 RBI, six stolen bases and 41 runs scored through 96 games. David Fry is playing first base for Cleveland on Friday against the White Sox, while Oscar Gonzalez will serve as the DH.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Four hits in win

Mountcastle went 4-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's 6-1 victory over Toronto.

Mountcastle has been swinging a hot bat with multiple hits in four consecutive contests. The first baseman is now hitting a robust .449 (22-for-49) in 17 games since the All-Star break, strengthening his case for continued playing time in the heart of the order for Baltimore.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Placed on IL with concussion

The Yankees placed Rizzo on the 10-day injured list Thursday with post-concussion syndrome, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

This concussion apparently stems all the way back to Rizzo's collision with Fernando Tatis in late May. He passed through concussion protocol at the time but has recently been experiencing residual fogginess, per Hoch. Jake Bauers is playing first base Thursday against the Astros and should continue to get a lot of run there while Rizzo is on the shelf. There is currently no timetable for his return.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Out again Thursday

Rizzo is out of the lineup again Thursday versus the Astros.

It's the second straight absence for Rizzo -- this time against a right-hander -- as he continues to struggle mightily at the dish. The veteran first baseman is slashing just .170/.235/.223 with one home run and 27 strikeouts in 24 games (102 plate appearances) since the beginning of July. Jake Bauers will play first and bat leadoff for the Yankees on Thursday in New York.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: On base four times Wednesday

Mountcastle went 2-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to the Blue Jays.

The 26-year-old has reeled off three straight multi-hit performances against Toronto, and while he didn't deliver any extra-base hits this time, he did supplement his singles with his third steal of the season. Mountcastle is slashing .400/.462/.689 in 16 games since the All-Star break with seven doubles, two homers, eight RBI and 10 runs, and he's pushing his way back into a consistent starting spot even on an O's roster stuffed full of top prospects.

  • Nate Lowe 1B | CIN

Rangers' Nathaniel Lowe: Amid second half surge

Lowe went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 11-1 win over the White Sox.

Lowe has been one of the best hitters in MLB since the All-Star break. The first baseman was a perfect 4-for-4 in his first game back and hasn't stopped. He's slashing .397/.514/.638 with three doubles, one triple, three home runs, 13 RBI, 14 walks and 15 runs over 17 games.

  • Luke Raley RF | SEA

Rays' Luke Raley: Has bruised knee

Raley exited Wednesday's game against the Yankees with a right knee contusion, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Raley was forced out of the Rays' game Wednesday after fouling a ball off his right knee during the fourth inning, but he was fortunate to avoid serious damage. Tampa Bay has an off day Thursday which will give Raley extra time to heal, but it's possible he still misses a game or two.

  • Luke Raley RF | SEA

Rays' Luke Raley: Exits early Wednesday

Raley was removed from Wednesday's game against the Yankees with an apparent knee injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Raley fouled a ball off his right knee during his during the fourth inning. He was able to finish the at-bat but was replaced in left field by Josh Lowe. The Rays will take a look at Raley and should provide more updates relatively soon, but he should be considered day-to-day for the time being.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Sitting versus lefty

O'Hearn is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

O'Hearn has gone 4-for-9 with three RBI over his last two games, but the left-handed hitter will take a seat Wednesday as the Orioles face off against southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. Ryan Mountcastle is playing first base and batting second. Adley Rutschman will serve as the O's designated hitter and James McCann is doing the catching.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Sitting against lefty

Rizzo is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rays.

Jake Bauers will play first base and bat fifth with ace left-hander Shane McClanahan set to start for Tampa Bay. The left-handed-hitting Rizzo has actually fared better versus lefties than righties this year, but he carries a disappointing .706 OPS across 421 overall plate appearances.
