  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Sitting versus lefty

O'Hearn is out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Blue Jays.

O'Hearn has gone 4-for-9 with three RBI over his last two games, but the left-handed hitter will take a seat Wednesday as the Orioles face off against southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. Ryan Mountcastle is playing first base and batting second. Adley Rutschman will serve as the O's designated hitter and James McCann is doing the catching.

  • Anthony Rizzo 1B | NYY

Yankees' Anthony Rizzo: Sitting against lefty

Rizzo is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rays.

Jake Bauers will play first base and bat fifth with ace left-hander Shane McClanahan set to start for Tampa Bay. The left-handed-hitting Rizzo has actually fared better versus lefties than righties this year, but he carries a disappointing .706 OPS across 421 overall plate appearances.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Remains out Wednesday

Naylor (side) remains out of the lineup Wednesday versus the Astros.

Naylor was scratched from the Guardians' lineup Tuesday due to right side tightness. There's no clarity yet as to the severity of the issue. David Fry is covering first base Wednesday and Jose Ramirez will take a turn as Cleveland's designated hitter. Brayan Rocchio has been called up from Triple-A Columbus and will play third base.

  • Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Torments Toronto once again

Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with a walk, two doubles, two RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 13-3 rout of the Blue Jays.

Getting the start at first base and batting second against southpaw Hyun Jin Ryu, Mountcastle produced two two-baggers for the second straight game at the Rogers Centre. The 26-year-old had been struggling prior to a bout of vertigo in June that caused him to miss about a month of action, but since the All-Star break he's slashing .372/.417/.674 in 15 games with seven doubles, two homers, eight RBI and 10 runs. The O's have two more games left in Toronto during this series, and Mountcastle's career 1.021 OPS in 199 plate appearances against the Blue Jays will make him an enticing DFS option.

  • Yandy Diaz 1B | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Homers in win

Diaz went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Yankees.

Diaz has just three homers in his last 47 games after hitting 12 in his first 43 contests. Still, the 31-year-old first baseman has been productive with the bat, going 22-for-63 (.349) over his last 16 games. Diaz is now slashing .317/.402/.509 with 63 runs scored and 52 RBI across 396 plate appearances this season.

  • Ty France 1B | SD

Mariners' Ty France: Raps out three more hits

France went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Red Sox.

France has a pair of three-hit efforts over his last three games. Entering Tuesday, he had gone nine contests without an extra-base hit before slapping a pair of doubles. The first baseman is up to a .255/.325/.373 slash line with seven home runs, 40 RBI, 57 runs scored, one stolen base and 26 doubles through 104 games this season.

  • Josh Naylor 1B | SEA

Guardians' Josh Naylor: Scratched with side tightness

Naylor was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against Houston due to right side tightness, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

No details have been provided regarding the severity of Naylor's injury, but it is apparently enough to keep him out of Tuesday's contest. David Fry will enter as Cleveland's first baseman and bat fifth.

  • Matt Beaty 1B | KC

Royals' Matt Beaty: Back from injured list

Beaty (concussion) was reinstated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday.

Beaty landed on the shelf June 23 after suffering a concussion, and he'll rejoin the Royals on Tuesday after a six-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha. The 30-year-old has appeared in just seven big-league games this season and should fill a bench role now that he's healthy.

  • Ryan O'Hearn 1B | PIT

Orioles' Ryan O'Hearn: Not starting Tuesday

O'Hearn is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.

O'Hearn started the past four games and will receive a day off after he went 5-for-16 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs during that stretch. Ryan Mountcastle will shift to first base while Gunnar Henderson serves as the designated hitter versus Toronto lefty Hyun Jin Ryu.

  • Gabriel Arias SS | CLE

Guardians' Gabriel Arias: Racks up three hits

Arias went 3-for-4 with a run scored in Monday's 7-3 loss to the Astros.

Arias has gone 8-for-18 (.444) over five games since taking over as the Guardians' primary shortstop following the trade that sent Amed Rosario to the Dodgers. Prior to picking up the starting job, Arias had endured an 0-for-20 slump stretched across 19 games -- he was often a pinch runner or defensive replacement in that span. He's at a .209/.309/.323 slash line with four home runs, one stolen base, six RBI, 17 runs scored and six doubles through 181 plate appearances this year. As long as he continues to hit well, Arias should be able to fend off Tyler Freeman for playing time.
