Johnson (undisclosed) was waived from Carolina's IR with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Johnson reverted to IR after going unclaimed on waivers with an injury designation May 19, and it appears the Panthers are moving on from the Florida product. He has yet to appear in an NFL game after tallying 593 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 5.9 yards per carry during his senior campaign in 2024.

Johnson will remain with the Panthers after going unclaimed on waivers. The 23-year-old signed a reserve/future contract with the team in January and will now be forced to miss the entirety of the upcoming campaign unless he's waived with an injury settlement.

Johnson was waived by the Eagles in late August after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster, but it now appears that he'll remain in Philadelphia on the practice squad. The Florida product flashed throughout the preseason, rushing for 77 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries. He could be elevated to the Eagles' active roster if the running back room is plagued by injuries later this year.

Johnson is working through a hamstring injury, which forced him to observe Thursday's preseason opener against the Bengals from the sidelines. He signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in late April, so an extended absence hurts his chances of making the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. Johnson will focus on getting back on the practice field and being available for the Eagles' second preseason game against the Browns on Saturday, Aug. 16.
