  • Samaje Perine RB | CIN

Redskins' Samaje Perine: Thinks he'll play

Perine (groin) said he'll be fine for Sunday's game against the Broncos, while Redskins head coach Jay Gruden wasn't so sure, Matthew Paras of The Washington Times reports.

Gruden expects to have a better idea by Saturday, perhaps hoping to see how Perine responds to a day of rest. The rookie tweaked his groin during Thursday's practice and was held out Friday, leading to a 'questionable' designation on the final injury report. With LeShun Daniels (hand) also injured Thursday and already ruled out for the season, Washington promoted Dare Ogunbowale from the practice squad Friday afternoon. Kapri Bibbs likely would handle a large workload if Perine were to miss the game, with Ogunbowale serving as the No. 2 back. Gruden also mentioned that Perine might be limited even if he's active, in which case Bibbs could draw the start.

  • Redskins' Dare Ogunbowale: Promoted from practice squad

Ogunbowale was promoted Friday from the Redskins' practice squad to the active roster.

With Samaje Perine (groin) and LeShun Daniels (hand) both suffering injuries during Thursday's practice, Ogunbowale and Kapri Bibbs were the only running backs on the field for Friday's session. With Daniels already ruled out and Perine looking shaky, Ogunbowale could step right in behind Bibbs as the No. 2 back for Sunday's game against the Broncos. The undrafted rookie out of Wisconsin was a fringe NFL prospect, but he did show some aptitude in the passing game with 60 receptions for 507 yards in his final two collegiate seasons.

  • Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Reinstated to roster

Elliott (suspension) was reinstated to the 53-man roster Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Elliott returned to practice Wednesday and appeared to take part in every drill, likely setting him up for his usual three-down role Sunday against the Seahawks. Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett did suggest Elliott will need to prove he's ready for his full allotment of snaps, but there's no real reason to believe that Elliott failed to do so the past few days.

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

49ers' Matt Breida: Ready to face Jags

Breida (knee) isn't listed on the final injury report for Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

The 49ers have expanded Breida's role since Jimmy Garoppolo took over at quarterback, giving the rookie 29 carries the past three weeks. It will nonetheless be difficult to rely on any piece of the San Francisco offense, as the Jaguars have surrendered only 14 passing touchdowns and six rushing touchdowns all season.

  • Cardinals' Kerwynn Williams: Questionable for Week 16

Williams (quadriceps/ribs) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Giants, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Sidelined the first two practices of Week 16 prep, Williams was seen running hard on a side field Friday with a member of the Cardinals' training staff, according to Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic. Once the session was closed to the media, Williams fit in enough reps otherwise to be termed a limited participant. While his status could come down to the wire, he has a friendly matchup on tap versus a Giants defense that has allowed 117.9 rushing yards per game and six touchdowns on the ground to running backs over the last seven games.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Bengals' Joe Mixon: Doesn't carry a Week 16 injury designation

Mixon (concussion) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Lions.

Mixon practiced fully all week and with no injury designation attached to his Week 16 status, he's on track to be back in the lineup this weekend. Prior to being forced out of action early in Week 13, Mixon had hit the 20-carry mark in back-to-back outings. In his return to action Sunday, look for him to reclaim the Bengals' lead back role, with Giovani Bernard thus ticketed for change-of-pace duty in the Bengals offense.

  • Austin Ekeler RB | WAS

Chargers' Austin Ekeler: Questionable for Sunday

Ekeler (hand) is listed as questionable for Sunday's road game against the Jets.

If Ekeler does take the field Week 16, a large club will be protecting the broken ring finger on his left hand. As such, his pass-catching viability is more or less not an option, making him a candidate to receive the occasional carry or two behind Melvin Gordon. More than likely, though, Ekeler will uphold his status as a gunner on the punt team. The preceding is assuming he bypasses his status as a game-time decision and avoids the inactive list Sunday.

  • Cardinals' Kerwynn Williams: Back at practice

Williams (quadriceps) appears to be practicing Friday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

With Williams absent from the prior two practices, it appeared the Cardinals might need to lean on Elijhaa Penny as their lead runner for Sunday's game against the Giants. Williams' return to practice Friday at least gives him a shot to play, though it's still quite possible he's no better than a game-time decision. Another update will be available Friday afternoon when the Cardinals release their final injury report.

  • Dolphins' Damien Williams: Listed as doubtful for Sunday's game

Williams (shoulder) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

Williams' absence of late has led to Kenyan Drake seeing added work in the Miami backfield, an assignment that Drake has handled well. Assuming Williams is inactive Sunday, Senorise Perry and De'Veon Smith will be on hand to back up Drake.

  • Samaje Perine RB | CIN

Redskins' Samaje Perine: Questionable after missing practice

Perine (groin) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Broncos, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Perine and LeShun Daniels (broken hand) both suffered injuries Thursday, leaving Kapri Bibbs as the lone running back available for Friday's practice. With Daniels out for the season and Perine seemingly on the wrong side of the 'questionable' tag, the Redskins figure to promote Dare Ogunbowale from the practice squad before Sunday. Should Perine end up missing the game, Bibbs might be asked to handle a three-down role, albeit against a stingy Denver defense.
