  • Athletics' Johenssy Colome: Late to debut in DSL

Colome made his pro debut July 3 in the Dominican Summer League after being sidelined by a testicular injury to start the year, Mark Chiarelli of Baseball America reports.

One of the most highly-anticipated prospects from this year's Jan. 15 signing class, Colome hasn't generated the same buzz as classmates Luis Hernandez of the Giants or Angeibel Gomez of the Royals, as he was missing in action and is hitting .156 in a tiny 10-game sample since getting healthy. In this 45 plate-appearance sample, Colome's 5.1 percent swinging strike rate, 24.4 percent walk rate and five steals stand out as strengths, while his 52.2 percent groundball rate and .094 ISO highlight areas needing improvement.

  • Heliot Ramos LF | NYY

Giants' Heliot Ramos: Launches solo shot in loss

Ramos went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Royals.

Ramos got the Giants on the scoreboard in the fourth inning, cracking a solo shot to right-center field. He's recorded at least one hit in 16 of his 18 appearances since returning from a right quadriceps strain, batting .297 with 14 runs scored, 10 RBI and five home runs in 76 plate appearances during that span. Overall, the 26-year-old is slashing .276/.310/.469 with 33 runs scored, 30 RBI and nine long balls across 252 plate appearances.

  • Twins' James Ellwanger: Recovering from TJS

Ellwanger had Tommy John surgery May 24, Ian Cundall of Baseball America reports.

The 6-foot-4 righty suffered a right elbow sprain in April and it led to the worst-case scenario, which should sideline Ellwanger until at least the second half of 2027. The 88th overall pick in 2025 out of Dallas Baptist, Ellwanger was given an easy assignment to Single-A Fort Myers, but he did not allow a run while striking out 15 in 11.2. innings across his first three pro starts before suffering the injury.

  • Charlee Soto SP | MIN

Twins' Charlee Soto: New injury pops up on rehab

Soto's (wrist) rehab assignment was paused in mid-June after he experienced forearm soreness during a bullpen session, Ian Cundall of Baseball America reports.

Soto's wrist soreness cropped up when he was rehabbing August 2025 surgery to remove a partially detached bone spur in his elbow, and he missed the first two months of 2026 due to the wrist issue, only to have a more serious injury pop up while on his rehab assignment. Soto is a talented young pitcher and won't turn 21 until the end of August, but he has thrown only 15.2 innings since the start of the 2025 campaign after logging 74 innings in his debut season at Single-A in 2024.

  • Jack Penney SS | DET

Tigers' Jack Penney: Done for season

Double-A Erie placed Penney on the full-season injured list June 12 with a left shoulder injury, J.J. Cooper of Baseball America reports.

Penney missed the first seven weeks of the season with a hand injury and suffered the shoulder injury on a diving play in the field while still on his rehab assignment June 4. Penney, who turns 24 in August, has yet to play above High-A but hit .364/.417/.636 with one home run in seven rehab games across rookie ball and High-A.

  • Joe La Sorsa RP | BOS

Red Sox's Joe La Sorsa: Shelved at Triple-A

Triple-A Worcester placed La Sorsa on its 7-day injured list July 1 due to a concussion, Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports.

After being acquired from the Pirates on June 4, La Sorsa made his Red Sox debut three days later before being optioned to Triple-A soon thereafter. The reliever went on to toss 6.1 scoreless innings over six appearances for Worcester before hitting the shelf.

  • Max Fried SP | NYY

Yankees' Max Fried: Expected back next week

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday on the "Talkin' Yanks" podcast by Jomboy Media that he expects Fried (elbow) to return from the injured list early next week against the White Sox.

Fried will make his second rehab start Wednesday and is slated to throw 60 pitches. As long as he bounces back well, he'll rejoin the Yankees' rotation as soon as next Monday. The left-hander has been sidelined since mid-May because of a bone bruise in his left elbow.

  • Alec Gamboa RP | BOS

Red Sox's Alec Gamboa: Heads back to Triple-A

The Red Sox optioned Gamboa to Triple-A Worcester on Saturday.

Gamboa was up with the Red Sox for just one day, as he served as the club's 27th man in Friday's doubleheader versus the Rays. He mopped up in the Red Sox's 10-0 win in the first game of the day, striking out a batter and allowing two hits and no walks over three scoreless innings en route to earning his first MLB save.

  • Kendall George OF | LAD

Dodgers' Kendall George: Back in action after freak injury

George (knee) is slashing .333/.455/.407 with a 6:8 BB:K and four stolen bases in seven games since being reinstated from Double-A Tulsa's 7-day injured list July 4.

After sustaining an injury to his left patellar tendon May 25 while jumping out of the way to avoid Tulsa's bat-retrieving dog, George had been expected to be out through the All-Star break. The 21-year-old outfielder ended up recovering quicker than expected, however, as he was given the green light to rejoin Tulsa earlier this month after completing a five-game rehab assignment at Single-A Ontario. George has remained active on the basepaths since returning to action and has now gone 33-for-38 on stolen-base attempts for the season over his 55 games between Tulsa and Ontario.

  • Keider Montero SP | DET

Tigers' Keider Montero: Back in rotation this week

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said that Montero will start Wednesday's series finale versus the Cubs at Wrigley Field, Jeff Seidel of the Detroit Free Press reports.

After entering the Detroit rotation in early April and submitting a 3.34 ERA over 15 starts, Montero was moved to the bullpen in late June once the Tigers got the likes of Tarik Skubal, Casey Mize and Jack Flaherty back from the injured list. Montero has taken well to the new relief role by delivering a 2.08 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB in 13 innings while notching two wins and one save over five appearances, but he'll temporarily slot back into the rotation while Hinch aims to build in extra rest for the team's other five starters amid a stretch of 13 games in 13 days. Hinch didn't commit to the six-man rotation lasting more than one turn, so Montero could shift back to the bullpen following Wednesday's start regardless of how he performs.
