  • Lazaro Estrada RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Lazaro Estrada: Dispatched to minors

Toronto optioned Estrada to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

Estrada was excellent in a bulk-relief outing Saturday, holding the White Sox hitless over four innings while striking out three batters and walking two. However, he threw 66 pitches and would presumably be sidelined for several days as a result, so the Blue Jays opted to shuffle him down to Buffalo in order to beef up the team's bullpen. Given Estrada's performance Saturday, it seems very likely he'll be back with the major-league club relatively soon.

  • Austin Voth RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Austin Voth: Getting chance with Blue Jays

Toronto selected Voth's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

After Voth was released by the White Sox on March 20, the Blue Jays scooped him up on a minor-league contract. In one start with Buffalo this season, the right-hander tossed three innings, allowing two earned runs on two hits and no walks while striking out two batters. Voth has worked both as a starter and a reliever during his time in the majors, but given that Toronto stated that he'd be available to pitch Sunday, it appears he's slated for a bullpen role.

  • Billy Cook RF | PIT

Pirates' Billy Cook: Back in big leagues

The Pirates recalled Cook from Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

The 27-year-old was sent to Indianapolis on Thursday but will quickly return to the majors with Jared Triolo (knee) landing on the injured list. Cook made the Pirates' Opening Day roster but registered just six plate appearances during the first week of the season, and he's unlikely to have a significant role while Pittsburgh's outfield is in good health.

  • Joe Mantiply RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Joe Mantiply: Summoned to Toronto

The Blue Jays selected Mantiply's contract from Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday.

Mantiply signed a minor-league contract with Toronto in early March, but he wasn't able to crack the Opening Day roster. The veteran reliever thus began the campaign with Buffalo, pitching in two games and allowing one run while posting a 3:0 K:BB over 3.2 innings. Mantiply should occupy a low-leverage spot in the Blue Jays' bullpen. The team was able to clear room for him on the 40-man roster by transferring Cody Ponce (knee) and Anthony Santander (shoulder) to the 60-day IL.

  • Hye Seong Kim SS | LAD

Dodgers' Hyeseong Kim: Getting call to big leagues

The Dodgers recalled Kim from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Sonja Chen of MLB.com reports.

Mookie Betts landed on the injured list with an oblique strain, so Kim will join the Dodgers to split playing time at shortstop with Miguel Rojas. Kim missed out on Los Angeles' Opening Day roster in order for him to get everyday reps at Triple-A, but he'll now have a chance at a regular role in the majors. In his first taste of the big leagues last season, he posted a .280/.314/.385 slash line with three homers, 13 steals, 17 RBI and 19 runs in 71 games.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Moved to 60-day IL

Toronto transferred Santander (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

The move was fully expected at some point in 2026 after Santander underwent shoulder surgery in February. The veteran outfielder could return later in the season, though he's almost certain to be out at least through the All-Star break. The Blue Jays opened up a spot on their 40-man roster, which will likely to used to bolster an injury-depleted pitching staff.

  • Cody Ponce RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Cody Ponce: Moved to 60-day IL

The Blue Jays transferred Ponce (knee) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

Ponce injured his knee during his Blue Jays debut Monday versus the Rockies and is visiting Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday to determine whether he needs surgery to repair a sprained right ACL. The right-hander is going to miss significant time and would almost certainly be out until next season if surgery is needed. By placing Ponce on the 60-day IL, Toronto opened up a spot on its 40-man roster.

  • Cardinals' Rainiel Rodriguez: Makes start at first base

Rodriguez made his first career professional start at first base with High-A Peoria on Saturday.

After starting at catcher and homering in the season opener Friday, Rodriguez was used at first base Saturday and went 0-for-3 with a walk. All indications are that the Cardinals will continue to develop Rodriguez as a catcher, but they have lots of organizational depth at the position and it's the 19-year-old's bat that will carry him. If Rodriguez does eventually move to first base or another less physically taxing position, it could accelerate his ascension to the big leagues.

  • Royals' Michael Wacha: Tabbed to start Monday

Wacha (illness) is slated to start against Cleveland on Monday, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Wacha came down with an illness in the middle of this week and couldn't make his scheduled start Friday versus Milwaukee. However, the right-hander appears to have turned a corner in his recovery over the weekend and will now slot back into the rotation Monday. Noah Cameron is slated to start Tuesday, while Cole Ragans is scheduled to start the series finale Wednesday.

  • Cardinals' Tanner Franklin: Dynamite in season debut

Franklin fanned nine batters while allowing two unearned runs across 3.2 innings in his season debut with High-A Peoria on Friday.

Franklin was electric, striking out nine of the 16 hitters he faced while topping out at 100.3 mph on the radar gun. A closer at Tennessee before being selected with the 72nd overall pick in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft, Franklin is being given an opportunity to start in the Cardinals system. The 21-year-old still needs to show he can handle the workload and has the repertoire to turn a lineup over, but he has major breakout potential if he does.
