Chris Sale SP | ATL
Braves' Chris Sale: In clear to start Monday
Atlanta lists Sale (illness) as its probable starter for Monday's game against the Angels in Anaheim.
Sale fought through a stomach bug during his most recent start this past Wednesday against the Athletics, but it won't be anything that prevents him from making his next turn through the rotation on normal rest. The 2024 NL Cy Young Award winner has breezed through his first two outings of the season, claiming a pair of wins while allowing just one earned run and posting a 9:3 K:BB across 12 innings.

Gabriel Moreno C | ARI
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Taking seat Sunday
Moreno is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Moreno will sit Sunday after a run of six straight starts, during which he went 5-for-21 with two walks, two doubles, two RBI and three runs. James McCann is doing the catching for Brandon Pfaadt in the series finale.

Dominic Smith DH | ATL
Braves' Dominic Smith: Sitting versus righty
Smith is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Smith's three previous absences from the lineup this year came against lefty starters, but he's sitting Sunday despite the fact that right-hander Brandon Pfaadt is pitching for Arizona. Ronald Acuna is resting his legs as the DH, which allows Eli White to pick up a start in right field.

Austin Riley 3B | ATL
Braves' Austin Riley: Receiving first day off
Riley is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
It's the first day off of the season for Riley, who is batting .103 (3-for-29) with nine strikeouts in eight games since collecting three hits Opening Day. Mauricio Dubon will shift to the hot corner while Jorge Mateo picks up a start at shortstop in Sunday's series finale at Arizona.

Casey Schmitt DH | SF
Giants' Casey Schmitt: Absence continuing Sunday
Schmitt (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Schmitt will sit Sunday for a third consecutive game due to a sore back. Rafael Devers is covering first base in the series finale versus the Mets, allowing Jerar Encarnacion to pick up a start as the designated hitter.

Brett Baty 3B | NYM
Mets' Brett Baty: Dealing with jammed thumb
Baty was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants due to a jammed thumb, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
The 26-year-old sustained the injury on a slide during Saturday's contest and isn't ready to start as scheduled Sunday, but he's expected to be available off the bench. Baty will have Monday's team off day to aid in his recovery before potentially missing more time.

Brenton Doyle CF | COL
Rockies' Brenton Doyle: Out of Sunday's lineup
Doyle is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Doyle will head to the bench for the second time this season after starting the previous four games. He's yet to get on track at the plate and has just one hit and seven strikeouts in his past 11 at-bats. Jake McCarthy is manning center field in Doyle's place Sunday.
-
Kyle Karros 3B | COL
Rockies' Kyle Karros: Getting first day off
Karros is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Karros started Colorado's first eight games of the season at third base but will hit the bench Sunday after beginning the year in a 5-for-25 slump. Willi Castro will shift to the hot corner while Edouard Julien receives a start at second base.
-
Jeremy Pena SS | HOU
Astros' Jeremy Pena: Taking seat Sunday
Pena is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Pena played back-to-back games Friday and Saturday for the first time this season -- going 3-for-7 with two walks and three doubles -- so it's not a surprise he's taking a seat for Sunday's series finale in Sacramento. The 28-year-old will continue building up to an everyday workload after missing most of spring training due to a fractured right ring finger. Nick Allen is manning shortstop and batting ninth Sunday.

Brendan Donovan 2B | SEA
Mariners' Brendan Donovan: Not starting Sunday
Donovan (groin) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.
The 28-year-old departed Friday's contest due to a groin issue and will be held out of the lineup Sunday for a second straight game. Donovan had medical imaging come back clean, so he could rejoin the starting nine within the next couple days. Leo Rivas is receiving another start at third base Sunday for Seattle.
