  • Logan Gilbert SP | SEA

Mariners' Logan Gilbert: Settles in after shaky first inning

Gilbert (11-8) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out four.

Toronto got off to a fast start with a two-run first inning, but Gilbert was able to limit the damage the rest of the way. The workhorse right-hander has been as steady as any starting pitcher this season, working at least five innings in all but one of his 27 starts while giving up more than three runs on just five occasions. Gilbert is set to bring a 3.42 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 166:40 K:BB over 160.1 innings into a soft home matchup versus the division-rival Athletics.

  • Red Sox's Willson Contreras: Dealing with hamstring tightness

Contreras (hamstring) was removed from Sunday's 16-1 loss to the Yankees in the seventh inning, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Contreras was replaced in the field by Andruw Monasterio to open the bottom of the seventh inning. Manager Chad Tracy explained after the game that "hamstring was a little tight" for Contreras, and with the team down 6-0 at that point in the game, he didn't want to "push it" with the first baseman's health. Contreras finished his day 0-for-3 with a strikeout, and he can be considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's series opener with Seattle.

  • Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt: Homers, drives in three Sunday

Goldschmidt went 3-for-6 with a homer, three total RBI and an additional run scored in Sunday's 16-1 win over the Red Sox.

Goldschmidt got the Yankees' offensive outburst started with a two-run single in the fifth inning before extending the lead to 10-1 with a solo shot off Jovani Moran in the eighth. Goldschmidt has now gone deep twice in his last three games after going 16 contests without a homer and just one RBI. Overall, the veteran first baseman is slashing .248/.310/.459 with 18 homers, 48 RBI and 40 runs scored across 348 plate appearances this season.

  • Angels' Sebastian Rivero: Reinstated, optioned to Triple-A

Rivero (hand) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Rivero was sidelined for over two months after suffering a left hamate fracture June 10, but he has now officially ready for action. The catcher has posted a .245 average with two doubles, eight RBI and five runs scored over 53 at-bats in 24 contests with the Angels this season, and he could return to the major-league roster before the end of the year.

  • Heliot Ramos RF | NYY

Yankees' Heliot Ramos: Goes deep Sunday

Ramos went 2-for-2 with a three-run homer and a pair of walks in Sunday's 16-1 win over the Red Sox.

Getting the start in right field against the left-handed Ranger Suarez, Ramos extended New York's lead to 5-0 in the fifth inning with a three-run, 416-foot blast, his 10th homer this season and first with the Yankees. Ramos had been struggling mightily in New York prior to Sunday, going just 7-for-59 (.119) with a .461 OPS in his first 20 games following a trade from San Francisco. Ramos figures to remain in the short side of a right-field platoon with Spencer Jones until Aaron Judge (ribs) is able to return.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Homers twice Sunday

Wells went 2-for-2 with a pair of home runs and five total RBI in Sunday's 16-1 win over the Red Sox.

Wells put together a huge day at the plate, despite only entering the game in the sixth inning. Pinch hitting for Ali Sanchez, Wells drove in his first run with a sacrifice fly before launching a two-run homer off lefty Jovani Moran in the eighth. The catcher capped the day with another two-run blast off second baseman-turned-pitcher Andruw Monasterio in the ninth. It's been a rough year overall at the plate for Wells, who had gone 23 games without a homer prior to Sunday. He's now slashing .184/.277/.316 with 10 homers, 26 RBI and 29 runs scored across 322 plate appearances this season.

  • Cade Cavalli SP | WAS

Nationals' Cade Cavalli: Avoids significant injury

Manager Blake Butera said Sunday that Cavalli is "fine" after being struck in the calf by a comebacker during Saturday's game against the Marlins, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

The right-hander was forced to depart Saturday's contest after four scoreless frames since he was hit by a 93-mph comebacker, but it appears he's avoided a serious injury. Cavalli lines up to take the mound next weekend on the road against the Dodgers, but he'll likely need to come through his between-starts bullpen session with no issues to gain full clearance.

  • Roman Anthony LF | BOS

Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Two hits in return

Anthony went 2-for-4 with a double in Sunday's 16-1 loss to the Yankees.

While there wasn't much to be excited about for Boston on Sunday, Anthony's return to the lineup, following a nearly four-month stint on the IL, was certainly a bright spot. Anthony, who led off for the Red Sox, is expected to serve as their primary DH down the stretch. He's slashing .239/.358/.336 with one homer, 12 runs scored, five RBI and two steals across 134 plate appearances this year.

  • Ranger Suarez SP | BOS

Red Sox's Ranger Suarez: Rough outing in New York

Suarez (5-4) took the loss Sunday against the Yankees, allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out two.

Suarez held the Yankees off the board through four innings Sunday before things fell apart with one out in the fifth. The southpaw gave up a two-run single to Paul Goldschmidt before Heliot Ramos extended the lead to 5-0 with a three-run blast. Suarez has been inconsistent since returning from the IL in late July -- he's now given up 11 runs over 15.2 innings in his last three outings. His ERA now sits at 3.64 on the season with a 1.24 WHIP and 119:39 K:BB across 24 starts (123.2 innings). Suarez will look to bounce back his next time out, tentatively scheduled to come on the road against the Orioles.

  • Will Warren SP | NYY

Yankees' Will Warren: Goes seven innings in win

Warren (9-6) earned the win Sunday over the Red Sox, allowing a run on six hits and a walk across seven innings. He struck out seven.

Warren was sharp Sunday, as he logged just his second quality start in his last six outings, while the Yankees provided more than enough run support in a 16-1 victory. The win is just the second for Warren since May 31. Overall, the right-hander sports a 4.23 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP and 133:46 K:BB across 134 innings this season. Warren's currently in line to face the Padres on the road his next time out.
