Wilson (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Wilson will head to the bench for a third straight game while he continues to manage a sore left shoulder. Donovan Walton will draw the start at shortstop in place of Wilson, who is being viewed as day-to-day.

Encarnacion-Strand is out of the lineup for Wednesday's tilt versus the Yankees.

After starting each of the previous seven contests, Encarnacion-Strand will begin Wednesday's game on the bench. Coby Mayo will hold down third base for the Orioles in Encarnacion-Strand's stead.

O'Neill is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Yankees.

After making six straight starts against right-handed pitching, the lefty-swinging O'Neill will take a seat Wednesday for the second consecutive time versus a righty. Pete Alonso will occupy the designated-hitter slot and Leody Taveras will play right field for Baltimore.

The Giants optioned Sanmartin to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

Sanmartin will be squeezed off the 26-man active roster after the Giants needed to clear a spot for lefty Matt Wilkinson, who was called up from Triple-A to start Wednesday's game in Cleveland. After being summoned from Sacramento on Aug. 3, Sanmartin made eight relief appearances during his latest stint with the Giants, pitching to a 7.11 ERA, 2.05 WHIP and 6:2 K:BB over 6.1 innings.

Arrighetti (foot) could be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Yankees, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Arrighetti threw 3.2 innings and 50 pitches in a rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, so if he does come back Friday he would be facing workload limitations. The right-hander is dealing with Morton's neuroma in his right foot, and the expectation is that he will have to pitch through some discomfort down the stretch for the Blue Jays.

The Giants claimed Abner off waivers from the Diamondbacks on Wednesday and optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento.

Abner will reclaim a 40-man roster spot with the move to San Francisco, though he'll have to wait a bit before making his debut with the Giants. The 24-year-old lefty reliever made eight appearances with Arizona at the big-league level this season, posting a 6.28 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 6:8 K:BB over 14.1 innings.

Guerrero (concussion) will go through a full workout Wednesday and is targeting a return to the Blue Jays' active roster Saturday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet reports.

Guerrero landed on the 7-day concussion injured list last weekend but is on track for activation when first eligible. He went through a light workout Tuesday and will ramp up the intensity with a full workout Wednesday. Guerrero could play a rehab game with Single-A Dunedin on Thursday or Friday before returning Saturday, assuming all checks out well.

The Giants transferred Susac (knee) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Susac's rookie season will officially come to a close after he was initially placed on the IL last week due to a left knee patella fracture. Per MLB.com, Susac appears set to avoid surgery but will spend the next three weeks resting and rehabbing before he resumes baseball activities. He looks like he could be in line for a fairly normal offseason, setting the stage for Susac to be ready to go for the start of spring training. A Rule 5 Draft pick over the winter, the 25-year-old catcher slashed .243/.289/.375 with three home runs, two steals, 22 RBI and 11 runs over 161 plate appearances with the Giants.

Ward (quadriceps) will start at designated hitter and bat eighth in Wednesday's game against the Brewers.

A sore quad kept Ward out of the starting nine for each of the previous five games, though he made enough improvement for the Mariners to make him available off the bench Tuesday, per MLB.com. However, with the Mariners falling behind by six runs after five innings in what was ultimately a 22-0 loss, Ward wasn't called upon to pinch hit. He'll be able to return to the lineup Wednesday in a non-defensive role, and assuming his quad responds well, Ward should be ready to resume playing right field in short order.

Adames (back) will start at shortstop and bat third in Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

He'll make his return to the lineup for the first time in a week after a bout with back spasms kept him on the bench for the Giants' last four games. With Adames back at his usual post at shortstop, Christian Koss will slide back over to third base Wednesday.
