Carter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Though he drew the start in center field during Tuesday's 10-0 win while left-hander Sammy Peralta opened the game for the Rockies, the left-handed-hitting Carter batted out of the No. 9 spot in the lineup. Carter will be left out of the starting nine for the series finale while the Rangers go up against a more traditional lefty starter in Kyle Freeland.

The Mariners optioned Ortiz to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old lefty received his first call to the big leagues Monday but didn't get the chance to make his MLB debut during his two-day stay with Seattle. He'll cede his spot on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen to righty Matt Brash (lat), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

The Mariners reinstated Brash (lat) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Seattle optioned left-hander Robinson Ortiz to Triple-A Tacoma to make room on the active roster and in the bullpen for Brash, who had been shelved since May 1 due to right lat inflammation. He was cleared to rejoin the Mariners after a pair of rehab appearances with Tacoma, during which he posted a 4:2 K:BB while not allowing a hit over 1.2 innings.

Gasser is slated to start Saturday's game against the Dodgers at American Family Field, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Called up from Triple-A Nashville last weekend, Gasser endured a turbulent 2026 MLB debut in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Twins, covering four innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks while also hitting three batters with pitches. Manager Pat Murphy seems content to use Chad Patrick out of the bullpen for the time being, so rather than turning back to Patrick to fill the open spot in the rotation, the Brewers will give Gasser another look in a starting role. Even if he performs better this time out against a more formidable Dodgers lineup, Gasser may not be in line for an extended stay in the Milwaukee rotation since Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) looks to be moving closer to a return from the 15-day injured list.

Hernaiz went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Tuesday's 14-6 win over the Angels.

Hernaiz got in on the action as the Athletics tallied a season high in runs, scoring twice before adding an RBI single in the ninth inning. Since Jacob Wilson (shoulder) landed on the injured list May 12, Hernaiz has stepped in as the primary shortstop and performed admirably. Over the past eight games, he has gone 10-for-25 (.400) with a double, an RBI and five runs scored.

The Rockies announced that Doyle is considered day-to-day after suffering a left oblique contusion during Tuesday's 10-0 loss to the Rangers, Manny Randhawa of MLB.com reports.

Doyle isn't expected to play in Wednesday's series finale while he continues to be monitored, but the Rockies haven't decided on his availability for their upcoming seven-game road trip. The 28-year-old has posted a career-worst .549 OPS so far this season and appears to have moved into a short-side platoon role in center field in recent weeks.

Triple-A Norfolk placed Trimble on its 7-day injured list Tuesday due to right hamstring discomfort, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

After opening the season on Norfolk's IL due to a hamstring injury, Trimble returned to the lineup May 12. However, he played in just two games and went 2-for-8 with a pair of home runs, a stolen base, four RBI and three runs before returning to the shelf due to an apparent aggravation of the injury. The 25-year-old outfielder is without a clear timeline for a return.

Thomas went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 14-6 victory over the Angels.

Thomas got in on the Athletics' offensive onslaught early, connecting on an opposite-field double to plate two runs in the third inning as the club went on to tally a season high in runs scored. The outfielder has seen sporadic at-bats, playing almost exclusively against left-handed pitching, but he has fared well when called upon in 2026. Thomas is slashing .344/.382/.500 with a homer, two doubles, five RBI and four runs across 35 plate appearances.

Triple-A Norfolk reinstated Gillies (quadriceps) from its 7-day injured list and assigned him to Double-A Chesapeake on Tuesday.

After suffering a quad strain in spring training, Gillies opened the season on Norfolk's IL, but he'll settle into a bullpen role at Chesapeake now that he's healthy again. Gillies was activated after he turned in a 1.64 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB in 11 innings across 10 rehab appearances between Single-A Delmarva and High-A Frederick.

Schreiber allowed a hit and no walks while striking out two over a scoreless inning Tuesday against Boston.

Schreiber entered in the sixth inning with his club facing a one-run deficit and was able to keep it there, though the offense never rallied and the relievers who followed him coughed up five more runs in Tuesday's loss. The right-hander has tallied multiple punchouts in back-to-back appearances after failing to do so in his first 19 outings of the season. Overall, Schreiber owns a 3.26 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 11:10 K:BB across 19.1 innings and hasn't seen many high-leverage opportunities, as his lone save came March 30.
