Gibson allowed three runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out eight over five innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Friday.
Gibson was able to keep the ball down, but he's now walked at least four batters in three of his four outings during this stint in the majors. The rookie right-hander's eight strikeouts were a season high. He's struggled early in his big-league career, posting a 5.81 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 20:18 K:BB through 26.1 innings over six outings (five starts). Until the walk rate comes down, he'll have a tough time being competitive. Gibson is tentatively projected to make his next start in a more favorable road matchup versus the Angels.

Gibson (1-2) took the loss Saturday, coughing up six runs on three hits and five walks over 4.1 innings as the Orioles were downed 9-3 by the Padres. He struck out seven.
The rookie right-hander did set a new career high in strikeouts in his fifth big-league appearance and fourth start, but Gibson threw only 53 of 93 pitches for strikes and got hit hard when he did get the ball in the strike zone, serving up homers to Jackson Merrill and Samad Taylor in the top of the first inning as San Diego jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Gibson has a 5.91 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 12:13 K:BB in 21.1 innings for Baltimore, and with Chris Bassitt (back) expected to return from the IL next week, he could be headed back to Triple-A Norfolk before getting another start.

Gibson has a 2.34 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 119 strikeouts in 77 innings over his last 16 starts across Double-A and Triple-A. The 23-year-old righty has always had success missing bats and generating groundballs, but this year Gibson's control took a step forward. He had never logged a walk rate below 9.7 percent coming into the year, but in 2025 he's had a walk rate below 9.0 percent at all three stops and holds an 8.0 percent walk rate on the season. While Gibson isn't on the 40-man roster, he could make his big-league debut either late this year or early in 2026.
