The Orioles recalled Gibson from Triple-A Norfolk and will have him start Wednesday's game against the Rays.

Baltimore optioned lefty Nick Raquet to Triple-A to open up a spot on the active roster for Gibson, who will likely be in line for just one start while the Orioles are in the midst of a stretch of nine games in eight days. The 24-year-old righty has previously made two appearances (one start) for Baltimore this season, striking out four over 6.2 innings while yielding four earned runs on seven hits and three walks. Gibson hasn't covered more than five innings in any of his 10 outings between Baltimore and Norfolk this season, so he could struggle to work deep enough into Wednesday's contest to qualify for a win.

He's clearing out to make room on the roster for Trey Gibson, who will be the Orioles' starting pitcher for Wednesday's game against the Rays. Raquet had just been recalled Tuesday and did not make an appearance during this stint with Baltimore.

Eldridge went 1-for-4 with a double in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to Arizona.

Eldridge lined a double to right field in the second inning, marking his second two-bagger of the season. The 21-year-old struggled upon being recalled from Triple-A Sacramento, though he's been trending upward of late. He's recorded at least one hit in four of his last six games, slashing .286/.348/.381 with an RBI and a run scored across 23 plate appearances during that span.

Bader is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

The Giants will extend Bader a breather after he started in each of the previous five games while going 4-for-18 with a grand slam, a double and a walk during that stretch. Drew Gilbert will fill in for Bader as the Giants' starting center fielder Wednesday.

Winn allowed one unearned run on two hits while striking out one across one inning in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Winn entered in the sixth inning and surrendered back-to-back singles to begin the frame, and the first runner eventually scored after reaching third on a throwing error. The right-hander hasn't allowed an earned run in any of his last eight appearances, giving up six hits and two walks while striking out nine in nine innings during that span. He now owns a 1.85 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB across 24.1 innings in 24 outings this season.

Canzone is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics.

The Mariners will keep Canzone and fellow left-handed hitter Luke Raley on the bench for the second game in a row while the Athletics send another lefty starter (Jeffrey Springs) to the hill. Seattle will go with Randy Arozarena as its designated hitter and Rob Refsnyder, Julio Rodriguez and Victor Robles as its starting outfield trio for the series finale in Sacramento.

The Royals designated Falter for assignment Wednesday.

Kansas City will drop Falter from its 40-man roster after the veteran lefty was roughed up for nine earned runs in 4.1 innings over his previous two starts, during which he served as an opener in bullpen games. The 29-year-old didn't fare much better in his three relief appearances with Kansas City before that, yielding six earned runs over 5.1 innings. The Royals will replace Falter with a fresh relief arm in right-hander Mason Black, who was recalled from Triple-A Omaha ahead of Wednesday's series finale versus the Yankees.

Kansas City designated lefty Bailey Falter for assignment to clear room on the roster for Black, who will receive a promotion despite having allowed nine earned runs in three innings between his last two relief appearances for Omaha. The addition of Black looks to be mostly for the purpose of giving the Royals a fresh arm out of the bullpen for Wednesday's series finale versus the Yankees, after Kansas City needed three relievers plus position player Tyler Tolbert to cover the final 6.2 frames of Tuesday's 15-1 loss.
