  • Brewers' Brian Fitzpatrick: Shifted to 60-day IL

Fitzpatrick (elbow) was shifted to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Fitzpatrick was placed on the 15-day IL with a left UCL strain Saturday, and the southpaw may need to undergo Tommy John surgery. Regardless of whether surgery is necessary, the 26-year-old will now be sidelined until at least early August. The transaction clears room for outfielder Luis Lara on the 40-man roster after Milwaukee inked the 21-year-old to a fresh seven-year, $31 million contract extension Tuesday.

  • Brewers' Brian Fitzpatrick: Diagnosed with UCL injury

Fitzpatrick (elbow) has been diagnosed with a left UCL strain and will get a second opinion to determine if he needs Tommy John surgery, MLB.com reports. Fitzpatrick was removed from Friday's game against the Rockies after he appeared to suffer the elbow injury while warming up for the seventh inning. The rookie left-hander has appeared in five games out of Milwaukee's bullpen this season, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks with five strikeouts across 6.2 innings. Fitzpatrick is now looking at an extended absence after being placed on the 15-day injured list earlier Saturday.

  • Brewers' Brian Fitzpatrick: Back in majors

The Brewers recalled Fitzpatrick from Triple-A Nashville on Friday. Fitzpatrick has turned in a 1.13 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 16 innings at Nashville, and he's also performed well when called upon by the Brewers, allowing just one earned run in 5.2 frames. He'll now rejoin the big-league bullpen alongside Craig Yoho to replace DL Hall (pectoral) and Jake Woodford.

Fitzpatrick offered a mixed bag in his first-ever stint in the majors, allowing just two runs (one earned) but with a 4:3 K:BB and seven hits allowed over 5.2 frames. He's clearing off the roster to make room for Coleman Crow, who will start Friday's game in Minnesota.

  • Brewers' Brian Fitzpatrick: Receives first big-league call-up

The Brewers selected Fitzpatrick's contract from Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday. Fitzpatrick had been off to a terrific start with Nashville, allowing just two unearned runs with an 11:2 K:BB over 10.1 innings. He'll receive his first call to the big leagues as a replacement in the Milwaukee bullpen for fellow left-hander Angel Zerpa (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list.
