Williams almost made it out of the fifth inning unscathed after allowing the first two batters of the frame on base, but he proceeded to give up a two-out, three-run home run to Miguel Vargas. A two-hour rain delay ensued, which prompted the Guardians to pull Williams when play resumed, with the right-hander ending his night with 52 strikes on 79 pitches (65.8 percent) with nine whiffs and five groundouts. He'll take a 3.89 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 106.1 innings into his next start, which is tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Twins in what figures to be Williams' last start before the All-Star break.

McCarthy went 4-for-5 with two home runs, six RBI and a stolen base in Friday's 15-3 win over the Giants.

McCarthy became just the seventh player ever to tally a leadoff homer and a grand slam in the same game, per Thomas Harding of MLB.com. It continued a scorching run for the 28-year-old, who's logged multiple hits in six of his past nine games with eight extra-base hits, 16 RBI, nine runs scored and two steals during that stretch. For the year, he's slashing a strong .308/.346/.522 with nine home runs, 47 RBI, 36 runs scored and 14 steals across 269 plate appearances.

Kay did not factor into the decision of Friday's extra-inning loss to the Guardians, allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out two across four innings.

Kay kept the Guardians in check for most of Friday's start outside of an RBI single to Travis Bazzana in the third inning. Kay tossed only 48 pitches (27 strikes), but his outing was cut short by a two-hour rain delay, resulting in Jordan Hicks and the White Sox's bullpen taking over in the fifth inning. Kay will take a 4.39 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 84 innings into his next start, which is slated for next week at home against the Red Sox.

The Astros traded Cosgrove to the Nationals on Friday in exchange for cash, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Cosgrove has spent the entire season with Houston's Triple-A affiliate, turning in a 4.30 ERA and 1.44 WHIP to go with a 29:21 K:BB through 29.1 innings. He didn't own a spot on the 40-man roster with the Astros, so he'll slot in as bullpen depth at Triple-A Rochester to begin his tenure with the Nats.

Vargas went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in Friday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Guardians.

Vargas supplied all of the White Sox's runs with a three-run homer in the fifth inning, which came before the nearly two-hour rain delay. The 26-year-old third baseman is now up to 20 home runs on the year, which is the first time he's reached that mark in a season since making his major-league debut with the Dodgers in 2022. Vargas is slashing .248/.359/.495 with 11 steals (in 13 attempts), 55 RBI and 58 runs scored across 374 plate appearances this season.

Langeliers was removed from Friday's game against the Marlins with a left thumb injury, Theo DeRosa of MLB.com reports.

Langeliers went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts before being replaced by a pinch hitter in the fourth inning. The severity of his injury remains unknown, but the A's may provide an update on his status after the game.

The Yankees optioned Jones to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following Friday's 5-2 win over the Twins.

Jones slashed .265/.345/.469 with two home runs, five RBI and six runs scored across 55 plate appearances upon being recalled from Triple-A on June 5. Despite his strong numbers, he'll end up as the odd man out in the New York outfield after Trent Grisham (hamstring) was reinstated from the injured list prior to Friday's game. Jones will get the opportunity to play regularly at Triple-A, and he'll likely rank as the top option for a call-up if the Yankees have an opening at designated hitter or in the outfield.

Arrighetti did not factor into the decision in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Rays, allowing one run on two hits and one walk with four strikeouts over six innings.

Arrighetti opened with five scoreless frames before allowing a solo homer in the sixth, generating 10 whiffs on just 73 pitches before departing in a 1-1 tie. It was a much-needed effort for the 26-year-old, who posted a 9.00 ERA in June and entered Friday having surrendered 14 earned runs over his previous two starts. He'll carry a 3.81 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 79:38 K:BB across 78 innings overall into a challenging road matchup with the Nationals next week.

Martinez did not factor into the decision in Friday's 3-1 win over the Astros, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with three strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

Martinez was cruising until he yielded a solo homer to Yordan Alvarez in the sixth inning, subsequently departing in a 1-1 tie after allowing a single to the next batter he faced. While he hasn't been able to notch a quality start in either outing, the 35-year-old has yielded just one earned run while pitching into the sixth in both of his past two starts. He'll take a 2.61 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 61:18 K:BB across 100 innings this season into a home matchup with the Yankees next week.

Baker earned the save in Friday's 3-1 win over the Astros, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Baker was called upon to close things out for the second straight game and did so on just eight pitches. It continued an All-Star-worthy campaign for the 31-year-old, who has converted 23 of 26 save chances while posting a 1.83 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 37:11 K:BB across 34.1 innings this season.
