Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Stingy in no-decision Wednesday
Rotowire
Jobe didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Pirates, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.
The 24-year-old right-hander bounced back nicely from a rough outing against the White Sox last Friday, tossing 53 of 86 pitches for strikes, but Jobe was denied his second win of the season when Kenley Jansen blew the save in the ninth inning. Jobe will take a 4.50 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB through 14 innings over three starts into his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home early next week against the Rays.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Rocked for six runs in loss
Rotowire
Jobe (1-1) took the loss against the White Sox on Friday, allowing six runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out four across 3.2 innings. He also hit two batters.
Jobe limited Chicago to one run through three innings, but the floodgates were opened in the fourth, when he gave up home runs to Tristan Peters and Munetaka Murakami before yielding a two-run triple to Braden Montgomery. Jobe is still shaking off the rust, as Friday's start was only his second since his return from Tommy John surgery. He's lined up to face the Pirates on the road next week.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Activated from IL
Rotowire
The Tigers reinstated Jobe (elbow) from the injured list Friday.
Jobe isn't scheduled to make his season debut until Saturday after spending the first several months of the season recovering from Tommy John surgery, but the Tigers will bring him back a day early. Brenan Hanifee will head down to Triple-A Toledo to free up space on the active roster.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Looks strong in latest rehab start
Rotowire
Jobe (elbow) struck out five and allowed one earned run on five hits and two walks over four innings in a rehab start Sunday for High-A West Michigan.
For the second straight rehab outing, Jobe covered exactly four innings, though he was able to push his pitch count up to 69 (44 strikes) on Sunday after tossing 54 pitches in his previous start July 25. Through five minor-league appearances across stops with four different affiliates, Jobe now owns a 1.76 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 17:4 K:BB in 15.1 innings. The young right-hander is checking all the boxes as he works his way back from May 2025 Tommy John surgery, as he generated 10 whiffs and hit 100 mph on three differnt pitches Sunday. He'll likely reconvene with the Tigers early this week before his next step is decided, but Jobe will probably need only one more minor-league start, at most, before making his 2026 debut for the big club.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Covers three innings in rehab start
Rotowire
Jobe (elbow) struck out three and allowed one unearned run on three hits and no walks across three innings Sunday in his rehab start with Double-A Erie.
Jobe now has three rehab starts under his belt as he works his way back from May 2025 Tommy John surgery. Across those outings, Jobe has compiled an excellent 8:0 K:BB while giving up just two runs (one earned) in 7.1 innings. The right-hander built up to 44 pitches Sunday, so he'll probably need at least two more starts in the minors to increase his workload to a level that would put him in consideration for a spot in the Detroit rotation. The Tigers could also look to bring Jobe back from the 60-day injured list as a tandem starter or bulk reliever if they don't clear a spot for him at the trade deadline.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Moving rehab to Double-A
Rotowire
Jobe (elbow) will make his next rehab start Sunday with Double-A Erie, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Jobe started his rehab assignment July 7 with Single-A Lakehead before making his next appearance Monday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. Between the two rehab outings, Jobe has allowed one run on four hits while striking out five over 4.1 innings. Now in the final stage of his recovery from May 2025 Tommy John surgery, Jobe may need just two or three more rehab starts before making his way back from the 60-day injured list.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Hits three innings in rehab start
Rotowire
Jobe (elbow) struck out four while allowing two hits and no walks over three scoreless innings in a rehab start Monday in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
Jobe tossed 38 pitches (27 strikes) during the appearance, his second in the FCL after kicking off his rehab assignment last Tuesday. The flamethrowing righty could shift his assignment to a higher-level affiliate coming out of the All-Star break as he continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent last June. Jobe is expected to need the entirety of his 30-day rehab window to get fully stretched out and regain command, but the Tigers could open up a spot for him in the rotation once he's ready to return from the 60-day injured list. As a rookie last season, Jobe turned in a 4.22 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 39:27 K:BB in 49 innings over 10 starts before being shut down due to the elbow injury.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Hits 100 mph in first rehab start
Rotowire
Jobe (elbow) struck out a batter and allowed one earned run on two hits and no walks over 1.1 innings in a rehab start Tuesday with Single-A Lakeland.
Pitching in a game for the first time since May 28, 2025, Jobe was eased back into action with a light workload coming off Tommy John surgery. He threw 32 pitches (24 strikes) en route to retiring four of the six batters he faced in the first appearance of what will likely be close to a month-long rehab assignment. Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of Jobe's rehab start was that he already seems to have recaptured his pre-surgery velocity; he topped out at 100.2 mph with his fastball, per MLB.com. In order to claim a spot in Detroit's rotation once he returns from the 60-day injured list, Jobe will need to show that he can maintain both velocity and command while he ups his pitch count during his subsequent minor-league outings.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Will throw live BP on Saturday
Rotowire
Jobe (elbow) will throw live batting practice Saturday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Jobe will continue his rehab at the Tigers' facility in Lakeland, Fla. He's already thrown handfuls of bullpen sessions and will now progress to facing live hitters this weekend, as the right-hander works his way back from Tommy John surgery. Jobe has a good chance to pitch for Detroit in the second half of the season.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Begins mound work
Rotowire
Jobe (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
This marks the first time that Jobe has thrown off a mound since he underwent Tommy John surgery last June. The 23-year-old righty still has a long way to go in his recovery process and isn't expected back until August or September at the earliest, but it's an encouraging sign of progress for one of Detroit's top young arms.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Throwing from 90 feet
Rotowire
Jobe (elbow) is scheduled to play catch out to 90 feet three times during the upcoming week, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The right-hander has avoided any setbacks since undergoing Tommy John surgery June 16, but Jobe is still in the early stages of his rehab program. He's already been placed on the 60-day injured list and isn't being counted on to contribute until September, if he pitches this season at all.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Moves to 60-day IL
Rotowire
The Tigers transferred Jobe (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Thursday.
Jobe is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery and will miss the rest of the season, so the Tigers will move him to the 60-day IL to clear a 40-man spot for Matt Gage, who was selected from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday. A timeline for Jobe's return will likely surface following his procedure, though he almost certainly won't be cleared to pitch until late 2026 at the earliest.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Requires Tommy John surgery
Rotowire
Jobe (elbow) will undergo Tommy John surgery, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Jobe landed on the 15-day injured list at the end of May due to a right flexor strain, though further evaluation determined that he's dealing with damage to his UCL and will require surgery. This means his 2025 season is finished after posting a 4.22 ERA and 1.49 WHIP across 49 innings (10 starts), and the timing of the operation will likely cause him to miss most, if not all, of the 2026 campaign.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Wins with quality start
Rotowire
Jobe (4-0) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks over six innings Sunday, striking out five and earning a win over Toronto.
Jobe worked through three scoreless innings before the Blue Jays plated a pair of runs in the fourth. It was his second quality start of the year and first since April 12 in Minnesota. Jobe tossed 52 of 90 pitches for strikes and generated 12 whiffs. He produced 14 in his last outing, which was the first time he hit double-digits in his MLB career. Jobe now owns a 4.12 ERA with a 32:22 K:BB through eight starts. He's projected to face Cleveland at home for his next outing.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Lit up in no-decision
Rotowire
Jobe allowed six runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out two batters over 3.2 innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Wednesday.
Jobe was initially slated to start Tuesday, but his outing was pushed back one day due to a rainout. The rookie right-hander got off on the wrong foot against Colorado when Ryan McMahon tagged him for a two-run home run in the first inning, and Jobe gave up another two-run shot -- this time to Michael Toglia -- in the third. He was allowed to pitched into the fourth frame but got the hook after giving up another run on two hits in that inning. Jobe hadn't given up more than three runs in a start this season prior to Wednesday, so this was easily his worst appearance of the campaign. He'll look to bounce back in his next trip to the mound, which tentatively lines up to come against Boston next week.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Labors after long layoff
Rotowire
Jobe didn't factor in the decision Wednesday against the Astros after giving up three runs on four hits and four walks across four-plus innings. He struck out four.
Making his first start since April 18, Jobe allowed a leadoff homer to Jeremy Pena in the opening frame but followed up with three straight scoreless innings. The right-hander returned for the fifth but was pulled after giving up a walk, a single and a two-run double to the first three batters he faced. The extended break between starts wasn't due to any sort of injury, but rather, an attempt to build in some extra rest for the 22-year-old rookie. Jobe has now issued three-plus walks in three of his five starts this year, though his overall line is still decent with a 3.38 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 18:14 K:BB across 24 innings.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Issues three walks in no-decision
Rotowire
Jobe did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 4-3 win against the White Sox, pitching five innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and three walks. He struck out four.
The rookie right-hander looked sharper in this 86-pitch outing but generated just six whiffs against a subpar Chicago lineup. Jobe managed to limit hard contact, as all four hits yielded were singles, but the walks are looking problematic to start the season for the 22-year-old. Over his first nine innings, Jobe has a 5.00 ERA and 1.56 WHIP with a 7:7 K:BB. He is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Twins in Minnesota next weekend.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Sharper in second spring start
Rotowire
Jobe allowed one run on two hits across three innings in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates. He struck out three.
Jobe was fine in his spring debut Tuesday, allowing two runs over two innings while striking out one, but he was a bit better Sunday as he dialed up the strikeouts and allowed only one run on a solo homer. The 22-year-old righty appears to be on track to earn a rotation spot out of camp, and while there may be some ups and downs during his first full MLB campaign, Jobe does offer considerable upside on the mound.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Allows two runs in spring debut
Rotowire
Jobe allowed two runs on a hit and a walk across two innings in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles. He struck out one.
Making his spring debut, Jobe allowed a two-run home run to Heston Kjerstad but otherwise managed to navigate a tough Baltimore lineup playing plenty of regulars. The 22-year-old righty made his brief MLB debut toward the end of the 2024 regular season and is now hoping to make Detroit's 2025 rotation right out of camp. Jobe stands a good chance to do just that if he has a productive spring, which makes the top prospect a popular breakout candidate heading into the season.

Tigers' Jackson Jobe: Adds two pitches to repertoire
Rotowire
Jobe added a curveball and a two-seam fastball to his pitch mix during the offseason with the hope of improving his strikeout rate in 2025, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
The 22-year-old righty is hoping to make use of a six-pitch repertoire during the upcoming season, as he was already throwing a four-seam fastball, a cutter, a changeup and a sweeper. Though he reached the big leagues in September and earned a spot in the Tigers' postseason bullpen, Jobe saw his strikeout rate fall to 25.6 percent over 91.2 innings across three minor-league stops in 2024, down all the way from 32.6 percent during the 2023 season. Jobe noted he particularly struggled with missing bats on two-strike counts, and he's hoping that adding more diversity to his arsenal will aid him in putting more batters away. After making his MLB debut as a reliever, Jobe will get the chance to compete for a rotation spot with Detroit in spring training and is expecting to throw at least 130 innings in his rookie campaign.
